I put this up on another thread yesterday but thought it might "fit" here. Let Honda corporate know about it and see if anything happens. Per the dealership this is how I got my Black Sport AT Friday instead of mid-october. I love my FIT!
Selling over MSRP sort of gives Honda a bad image and upsets a lot of customers who would like to buy the product. Honda does not control the actual sale price a dealer will sell for. However they do make recommendations if they see business practices that may be harmful to the Honda corporate image. Say a dealer is recieving 8 fits a month and are selling them (in Texas someone posted) at $4,000.00 over MSRP. Honda will ask them to stop this practice of price gouging. If they do not stop Honda will maybe only send the dealer 3 cars a month and ship the other 5 as bonus cars to dealers who have a better relationship with Honda corporate and selling for MSRP.
No need to Pay over MSRP. Go somewhere else if you are willing to drive.

Over the summer, I learned about an Internet site called autosatinvoice.com. On it, I was told by reps that the difference between invoice and MSRP on the Fit is minimal, unlike many other vehicles; thus, I was told that getting one at MSRP would be a good deal. I chose to do this instead of purchasing a Nissan Altima or Rogue for about $1,000 under invoice. I imagine now with all the end-of-the-summer sales on most '08 models, even greater deals can be cut. I knew all of this and yet, for the first time in my life, decided to pay MSRP for an '09 Fit.

I got a call yesterday from a dealer I spoke to back in July who was supposed to tell me when he could take a deposit and tell me what was coming in. He said they had 9 arrive today and in the color I wanted. I told him I had already put a deposit on one from another dealer that would be arriving in Oct. He asked me what I was paying. I told him I was getting it for msrp. He said "thats a good deal" we're typically pricing at $1000 to $1500 over msrp, due to demand".
Well, at least he was honest about it.

I stopped yesterday at a dealer in Medford Oregon and looked at a Black Base AT Fit. Price was
16020.00 + 379.00 accessories + 1995.00 Dealer Mark-up = 18394.00
When I first started looking at it because of the price I didn't even realize it was a base model I thought it was a sport. I asked the dealer if he had any Sports and he said the 2 he had he sold the first day. I asked how much they were and he said oh 2 grand more, I then asked if that was with Navi and he said no that was 2 grand more than that. He then said who would have ever thought that Fit's would sell for 23 grand. I was slightly taken aback.
I asked what the dealer accessories were and he said they weren't on there yet as they were unavailable and of course if I bought the car they could remove the 379.00 charge. The accessories were going to be door guards and a bumper appliqué.
I didn't tell him I had a BBP AT Sport coming in for MSRP from another dealer.

When I get my fit I'm gonna order it. Hopefully the dealer won't put any mark-up on it. I know the local honda dealer near me was only marking the 08s $750 over sticker price.but another dealer 20mins down RT.78 had no mark-up at all.
