Finally! I was waiting for somebody regarded with respect and authority on the subject to say it!
Listen guys, I believe I was the first to actually call the '09 platypus because of the front end. For the record, I was also one of the greatest opponents to the looks of the '09 and even stated that I would never consider it.
Well, I am here to eat everything I stated about it! Again for the record, yes the nose is too long on the picture, but pictures are 2D and seeing it in person gives you entirely new impression in 3D!
I was driving by Dublin Honda yesterday at 2:45pm when a truck pulled in with a red and black sport model! I flipped the bitch and followed the red Fit from the truck to the back of the servicing area. I greeted the driver before he even got out and quickly filled the driver seat. One of the sales managers approached and said to me: "What took you so long to come and check it out?". I laughed! He was wondering how I knew. I told him to to check FF.net when he needs to find something out about the Fit! ROFL!
Car is awesome! It is improved in every aspect. It feels and looks more luxurious. Materials are better than 07-08 as well as fit and finish. Turn signals and buttons are more soft and tactile than previous gen. This car actually fits, in my opinion, between a Civic and Accord in feel and quality. Telescopic wheel makes all the difference in the world. Si steering wheels is a class or two above previous one. Cloth on the seats is nicer and better quality. Seating position is terrific now! REAL dead pedal is awesome! You can actually push against it with full weight to shift yourself in the seat! LOL! Armrest is great because it moves with the seat unlike first gen.. JDM type. Yes I wish it had a storage under it and to be a bit wider so passenger can use it too. Storage not because 09 lacks it but because it is more convenient to access it while driving than two glove boxes up front. 10 cup holders?! Well I thought it was an overkill (and originally even wondered where was a port-a-potty to go along with it), but inside doors you can place bottles! Personally I rarely drink anything but water, so I like it! Dashboard and instruments are as if removed from a top of the line Acura! I can keep going on and on, but you get a picture!
This model is well worth the extra $$$. It shows everywhere! Why is VSA available only with NAV? Well because most are not willing to spend the money on it anyway and the ones that do can afford to dish out for the combo! Simple as that! Yes it costs more than some Civics, but for a good reason. It is exactly what market wonts! Small car is now "cool" and "in" and people that have money for more expensive models are flocking to it. They demand luxuries and Honda is happy to oblige! Nothing wrong with that. As much as it drives most of us nuts, younger drivers are minority on the market for the Fit segment. Again in my opinion, my 07 is cheap in comparison. It is not worth the money I paid for. My 1990 CRX Si had more quality built into it! 09 is worth the money they demand for it! Just not extra $4K Dublin Honda is asking for it! After all they asked $10K premium on Mugen Civic! ROFL!
They offered me "top dollar" for my 07 Fit as a trade on this 09, but I laughed when I asked them to forget about $4K mark up and they started defending themselves!
Don't complain about current pricing for 09! We were doing it for 07 when it hit the showroom floors as well. Prices will level eventually! Honda has more capacity at the current plant in Japan while leaving 5 more plants in Asia as a back up. No word on what will be built in new plant in Indiana for sure.
How much I like this 09?! Well I will be switching to a manual Sport with nav sometime next year or sooner when prices stabilize! How much did my wife like it? She is going to switch to a dark blue A/T Sport with Nav from an 06 Civic EX sedan, too!
I am 37 years old and my wife is 30. We are not interested in building race cars out of the Fit. Hers will stay stock, while I will do similar things I did to my 07! Our newborn loves our 07 Fit, but even at 6 weeks old she screamed until we put her inside an 09! Stroller, car seat, bags, they all fit great in a Fit. We prefer to use it as a baby transporter over a civic. Taller roof line is great for lifting the baby car seat.
Stop hating this car while scavenging it out for parts for 07-08. While first gen. strikes me as a fun toy, 2nd gen is a serious contender for luxury as well as fun. While first gen was a love on first sight for all of us, give the 2nd gen a chance. It will grow on you trust me!
BTW, according to the truck driver, every dealership is receiving only one Fit at the moment! Next delivery will be after an all new hybrid is delivered, again only one per dealer. It will be a while before any stock is built at your local dealers. They can post multiple cars on their web sites, but they will not have them. They are just building up the hype.

Love the addendum price mark up! Get used to them, they will be with us for a while!

As of this afternoon car is gone from the showroom floor and nowhere to be found on the lot. If you find a brain on the side of the road in Dublin or vicinity please return it to the driver of the 09 MR Fit with the VIN listed above! Knowing Dublin Honda I doubt they knocked much off that "market adjustment" price!
Proud owner, if you are here on the forum, please do not be shy and let us know! We are dying to know!

what i thought of the 2009 Fit before is really different of what i think now. Im kind of liking it. Still, they do look like Toyota Sienna's headlamps.
but for this price tag..hello Mini Coop

A Honda Fit is still a Honda Fit!
Eh, in my opinion, I think both cars look kinda similar, just a little difference here and there. Of course the new 09 fit is suppose to be a better car due to improvements, otherwise, it would be pretty bad on Honda's part to put out a worse car than its predecessor... Looks-wise, it really up to your preference and opinion on which one appeals to you. I have my 07 fit model, and hey, I love it, but a fit is a fit. The 1st gen set up the standard bar, and paved way for the 2nd gen fit to keep up that standard. And I guess the 07 and 08 models are now classified as "limited edition", since Honda won't be making them anymore. The cars we should really be hating are the ones that give out an arrogant and ignorant stance to society, making themselves seem more important than anyone else on the road...
Should rally up a bunch of Fits to show those cars "Mess with one of us, fine. But together, we will pwn you!"

i went to hendrick honda this weekend for a meet and they had one auto fit sport with vsa and navi and it was 20k. no markup, just added the little dealer add ons like an car care appeareanc package and window tint. some dealers are fair i guess!
hidden charges
I think the appearance packages are a form of mark up. By the same token my "transfer fee", in my opinion, was certainly mark up as well.
Yeah that is what I was thinking. I will try to get a better shot of the muffler if the Fit is still there when I go back on Tuesday. Or if one of the new owners could take a better picture of it that would be great.
The only thing keeping it from being a true "Twin Loop Exhaust" is the fact that it enters and exits the same side of the muffler. I hope this bolts up to the GD3!
Nope .... completely different mounting points and lenght
I went to Howdy Honda today, which is where I've purchased my '92 Prelude Si, '93 Civic Ex Coupe, '99 Accord EX V6 Coupe, 2001 Honda S2000, and my fiance's 2006 Accord EX-L Coupe, as they called me to so I could come
take a look at the first 2009 Fit that they got in. I took a bunch of pictures, so click here to see them.

Hey, Scotty! If you dont mind a drive, I know the Honda of Columbia dealer is set to get a few more Fits on 9/5, one of which is the Silver Sport Auto I had reserved. Give 'em a call, they will only charge msrp
I'm attempting to attach photos of a Black 2009 Fit I recently test drove. Hopefully this works.
Oh and BTW, this is my first post on the forum since I started lurking while researching the FIT!!
My overall impression of this car is excellent. I've never owned a Honda before, so I can't really compare it to any previous ones, but everything felt and looked solid and well made. I'm 6'1 and I like my seat all the way back when I drive. So, I was expecting to put the seat fully back and still feel like my legs were cramped, as I had in another small car I recently test drove. Well, not only did that NOT happen, but I had to bring my seat forward a click or two. Once I figured out how to move the steering wheel up a bit, I had even more room.
There is a lot of headroom as well. I'd guess I had another 3 inches to hit my head. I didn't get any fishbowl type effect from sitting in the car as I've heard others mention. It was a very good view out front though. The gauges looked nice. The blue lines glowed on the readouts, and I imagine they look nice at night. Climbing out and opening the rear doors, I was able to manipulate the seats without reading the manual on the first try for EACH type of positioning. It was very intuitive on what needed to be done. I sat in the rear seat and it felt like I could ride on a 3-4 hour trip with no complaints with the front seat in the previous position.
After manipulating the hatch and folding it a few times, I proceeded with the test drive. I've been driving a bigger car that rides like glass and in which you can barely hear the engine on the highway. Needless to say, I was a bit worried with the driving noise and ride of this small car. Well, let me assure you the ride was simply amazing. It felt firm without feeling firm (if that makes any sense). I didn't notice any high pitched engine whine or wind noise while doing 70mph like I expected. The ride was so calming, that I actually missed my turn twice! Get up and go is what I expected for this car, nothing approaching a Porsche, but enough to get you into the flow of traffic easily.
Pulling back into the car lot, I was saddened a bit. The test drive was over too soon. I needed more time behind the wheel! As the salesman pried my fingers from the wheel, I realized life would go on. Besides, they don't have my color yet...

WOW. we have 2 09's here. Went to the honda dealer to get that washer for oil changes...granted they were closed, but leaving I drove the lot and 2 09 fits sitting in the lot. I suck and didn't remember to take a couple pics till I'd left but hopefully I'll get some time to go there, get some pics and maybe a test drive
It seems as if more and more manufacturers have gotten away from standardized stereo units, making aftermarket upgrades difficult if not impossible for the average budget. With the Fit I can't imagine what would be requiree to retrofit a new unit, especially without butchering the car's center stack.
There are multiple annoyances with regard to the current and former Fit, however, on whole I think it's one of the best vehicles in its class for the money. Moreover, the Honda reliability and resale are tops.
In a perfect world, I'd like to see VSA as a stand-alone option, 4-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof/moonroof option, and steering-wheel-mounted radio controls. Perhaps I'm getting too greedy...

job at Honda
I wish Honda would give you a job helping to package their products in a more North American Friendly way. Honda is like the Wizard of OZ. Who can we complain to?
