I certainly understand the bitterness of the 1st gen fit owners. Without trying to PO too many of you I'll still say, "get a job." Let those of us who have one ordered be. It's one thing to say you dislike them, but to be all like oh the 09's are aweful rabble rabble rabble is rather annoying. The 09 is different, let the people who will eventually own both comment.

compared to the 07 and 08 the new one is awful...i will agree with you that the new model is different...just like when they changed the old cool xb into the new crappy different one. this was discussed a million times on here and everyone was pretty much agreed that the new one wouldnt hold a candle to the old one....honestly, the steering wheel is the only improvement that i see. what improvement do you honestly see in the new one verses the old one? is 8-9 horsepower worth 1000 over msrp on a car that is probably several thousand more than the original?

Haha... We did have some fun.

Ride is definitely stiffer, but not harsh.

The GE8 (09 Fit... I had to say it ) is slightly more peppy than the stock GD3. Even as an AT, you can feel it has a bit more. Nothing dramatic... just a touch . Let's just say, an 07-08 AT Fit with a KWSC will still leave it in the dust.

I am a fan of the rear of the car... Give me time with the front. The little wiper kinda throws me for a loop, especially when it is in plain sight driving down the road.

Chris, I think we were feeling the A/C compressor go on and off, not VTEC We had to run A/C most of the drive as it is hot as hell right now.
Engine compartment is pushed back. The Air duct from the front end to the air inlet is a great touch from Honda. It fits back right where the ECU is as well.

Its funny, as I look at this car, I can already see aftermarket parts the industry could make. We will see how the market takes the 09s and what the aftermarket thinks of them.

I really love it... I wont be trading in my 07 anytime soon mind you, but I think they did a great job. My only complaint is that the interior is a bit too "civicy"... reminds me of the FN2 EUDM civic a LOT. The steering wheel is another bit of concern, I dont know about you guys but I LOVE the "hand bumps" on the sport steering wheel of the 1st generation, you know what I´m talking about? The little bumps at 10 and 2 that feel insanely good when you wrap your hand around them... They´re gone for 09!!!!

Anyone know if you can lock both glove boxes? Is it a seperate lock for each?

Also what about the compartment underneath the back seat?

The compartment under the backseat is locked and unlocked by twisting the two knobs at the top of the door. So not really a keylock, it just keeps it closed. I'll check out the glove boxes, but I don't remember seeing locks this morning.

We just purchased the first 09 fit in Toledo OH. Anyone paying over msrp is just crazy. We bought it for msrp which was $600 more than the 08's. We thought the exterior looks much better and the interior seemed more roomy. Driving we couldn't really compare. They had an 07 which was a stick and the 09 was an automatic. We liked the darker interior of the older model but that was about it.

Thanks Sean,

Seems like an oversite to not have a lock atleast on the compartment where most people would be storing an ipod/mp3 player.

Anybody seen a 2009 with Nav in a dealership yet?

<paranoid> I'm wondering if there are Nav sourcing issues </paranoid>.

Well, I wanted to sit in one to see the interior. I was hearing its nice.
Looks pretty crappy to me.

So far the car is pure gross.

I must leave the thread as ugly is rubbing off.

Right when i got off work i bolted down to my local Honda dealer to see what they had.
One MR AT Sport Non nav is what i saw, and all they had.

Overall its a really really nice improvment over the GD3. As said in this thread before the exterior is definetly more appealing when your looking at it in person. really aggressive look. The back is really nice aswell, looks more like a performance car from the back then the GD3. Interior is leaps and bounds better the current gen, seats, steering wheel, armrest, rear seat leg room, all improved. Plus i think the interior looks better aswell.

I was somewhat intrested in trading my GD3 in for a GE8 up till today. Why? Because to me the Fit lost its JDM appeal. The GD3 looks like a JDM car. Looks like a car straight from japan, GE8 looks like the US Fit knock off. Looks like a total USDM car, which im not all that into. Then again ive yet to drive one. vids to come in a bit

Yep. It doesn't look like the same car at all, just like a smaller whatever-the-import-brand is. The "meaner" lights, the pulled-out nose...

I have to say, if I saw this car today, and hadn't seen the previous gen, I would not want this car. There is nothing distinctive about it.

In fact, to me, it looks like the front belongs to a sedan and the back is a hatchback. The two parts don't go together any more.
