wow...im not trying to start sh*t but the 09 is not dramatically that much better, i mean if u were in the boat of buying a new car, you should get the 09 and not the 08...but if you gd3 owners are going to trade in your car, this is the wrong car to trade in for...ur losing money on ur car for upgrades that are minimal, and that front end looks hideous, it reminds me of my dads toyota sienna...minivans FTL

although the ivtec engine is a plus, but honestly that car is not worthwhile trading in for...u should save ur money for a better car

Yes we all have our opinions on the new model but, can we not turn this release into something that splits the forum into '07/'08ers v.s. '09's?

Please!

It's not like they took the fit and turned it into a Hummer for cryin out loud!

I'm still holding my opinion until I get to try one.

haha that would be hilarious!!!
my best friend drives a hummer, and i'm not going to lie, if you can afford the gas, i'm down for an 09 hummer
h3's are bull shit though, way too small!
h1 and h2 ftw!!

whoops.
/threadjack.

but i'm not going to lie a little 07/08 and 09 hate battle would be entertaining

i like where this thread is going..

Hey Chris,

How do you find the visibility out the front. I know with the current Fit I am sometimes struggling to see around a long corner because of the A-pillar. This one looks like it is even farther upfront, do you think it is better or worse than the previous gen?

Things I like:
-Obviously more power
-The spare gets a big thumbs up
-The rear of the car looks pretty nice
-Front grill looks good
-The seats looks more comfy
-The car looks more flowing than before
-The new gauge cluster, looks pretty upscale and well laid out
-The extra glove shelf... finally on USDM Fits

Things I dislike:
-The rest of the front
-The steering wheel, it really puts the ugggg in ugly. I really really don't like the steering wheel!!
-The rest of the dash really doesn't work as well as the previous gen, seems like it was thrown together where as the previous gen really stands out as a nice layout.
-The vents, I saw the same ones in a Ford escape I rented a while back... those come off as really cheap to me.
-The Fogs, I prefer a more integrated look to bug-eyed.
-Engine being pushed back even further... looks like lots of pains for anybody wanting to get back in there, plus with the amount of heat that comes off the back it is going to be a problem IMO.

thanks for the pics guys! keep them coming!

I think the new fit is a huge improvement over the previous version (my family business has one) I can't wait until I get one for myself!

Its also sad to read a lot of the bickering coming from members who are obviously not trying to offer constructive criticism of the new Fit but instead are trying to spoil the party for all the new (prospecting) Fit buyers.

Not to nit-pick but FTA "An improved rear Magic Seat provides one-motion dive-down functionality without having to remove the rear seat head restraints to folds flat into the floor, creating a rear cargo volume of 57.3 cubic feet"

Move the front seats forward, drop the rear flat, re-position the front seats ('07-'08 models). Not really revolutionary. No hate, just pointing this out

going by pure looks alone, it's fatter, the rearend looks way too chiseled, and it's not my style at all. Truly does look Americanized. I'm happy to say I prefer GD3 over this. Maybe the next restyle won't be so ugly to me.

funny you mention genitalia. My 'friend' says my car reminds him of 'the bullet' which he says is something women use to douche themselves? I didn't really understand the product name OR why my car looks like a douche...but whatever lol

Were talking $600 bucks. The improved safety features of the car alone are worth that to me. Then add in that it has more cargo room, more leg room for my friends and family in the back, better suspension, a "real" VTEC engine, and better visibility, and I just don't see how $600 is so crazy.

If that isn't enough, lets take inflation into account.

Based on inflation rate as published by The Bureau of Labor Statistics, $13,950.00 in January of 2009 is = to $14,537.30 in July of 2008.... So really I'm paying $12.70 more... man what a horrible deal... Just imagine if I had purchased my '08 Fit in August of '07... I would have actually paid more than what people will now be paying for their '09.

So complain about looks all you want as that is completely subjective, but don't go complaining about the price until you have done your homework.

I was just remembering when my Fit was brand new, I got lots of heat for the awkward shape and stance.... I can still remember people at the first track event looking for the K20 and expecting it to roll in the first corner. So glad the new one is out to take the heat off

I'm disappointed to see that there are no audio controls on the steering wheel of the non-Navi Fits. If only Honda had shown some non-Navi Fits to the press, I would have seen it earlier and not gotten my hopes up.

Does anyone know how hard/easy it would be to add those controls? Plug and play would be nice...

I'm not gonna hate. I got much love for the 09's. To be honest, if I didn't have my 08 already I'd be trying to get my hands on one of these. In fact, I'm trying to talk my brother into getting one since his '00 TL is dying... Would I trade my 08 for an 09? No way, I don't know why. Maybe it's a sentimental thing, or maybe it's the fact of having the 1st Gen American Fit.

Personally I don't think the 09's look that bad. But like one member said it does seem to have lost it's "JDMness" look to it. I think it's because the design is bulkier, which is why I can see why members are calling it Americanized. The size reminds me of a Matrix, which is no longer considered a "small" car. But overall it looks more modern than the GD3.

What I really like about the 09's:
-Steering wheel
-16" Sport Wheels
-Magic Seat Storage Compartments

Anyway, dunno what my point was. Just wanted to show you '09ers some love. Us 07-08ers aren't bitter, we just love our cars and a lot of us wouldn't trade them for anything else.

Great post, nice reasoning. I really like both first and second generation Fits and can't wait to see what the 09's look like once people start modding them (which hopefully won't be too far away).
