jdm center console for 09 fit?
I was peeved that the 09 fit doesn't have center console for manual transmission. so i looked around this forum, which i am brand new too, and i saw that there was a jdm center console modification which was brilliant!
is there, or will there be an equivalent to the 09 models? does the 09 auto center console work for the manual? anyone know yet?!

Here's the verbiage for the center console from Honda's website. I think SheepNutz is correct in that it may interfere with shifting, but you can probably buy it and install it yourself (most likely not a difficult install).
Center Armrest
Add convenience and comfort to your Honda, with the armrest's multiple storage compartments and padded lid large enough to be used by both driver and passenger. It's completely adjustable to fit you perfectly, slides forward and backward for the best seating comfort. When not in use, the Center Armrest can be flipped up in vertical position out of the way. Not available if your vehicle has a manual transmission.

One more thought on this issue. Supposedly, the armrest can be flipped up when not in use, so if there is mild interference when shifting you can flip it up when around town, but for longer cruising you can put it down. You might want to call College Hillls Honda's parts department (888-244-6632) to get their opinion, as they test all the accessories in "real world" settings (though they may not yet have had a chance to do so on the '09).

Do you have an AT or MT? Keep us posted!

If you look at page 3 item #6 at http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins...9/AII39836.pdf, It specifically shows instructions for installing the center console in a Fit M/T. I'm assuming that since these instructions are from Honda, it will work.

I just got off the phone with College Hills parts department. I was informed that console will indeed work with a MT; however, for legal purporses, Honda is playing it safe. I'll be interested to hear if anyone installs one in a MT Fit, as I'd really like to have a functional center console. Now, if I could just get steering wheel mounted radio controls I'd be a happy camper.

Can you let us know how easy the install is and about how long it takes? I'm thinking about installing this myself instead of having the dealer do it, since I can get it so much cheaper at college hills.

College Hills has complete installation instructions and a video. A monkey could install the console. Other members did it in only about 20 minutes.
