jdm center console for 09 fit?
#61
I assume you installed the console on a MT 09 Fit, correct? Can you PLEASE post a few pics of it, in relation to the shifter? Thanks!!!
For those who own an MT Fit and were thinking of getting this console: The console is the same height as the arm rest that comes with the Fit Sport. But, depending on how far back your seat is, it may end up being shorter than the arm rest. I find that the tip of my elbow rests on the center console when I'm shifting, so I don't find that it really interferes with shifting. However, I'm only 5'7" and sit somewhat close to the steering wheel.
Overall, this is a worthwhile mod, and is a pretty easy DIY. The only 2 downsides with the console is that it makes it harder to buckle up, and using the parking brake. Also, on mine, the hinge for the lid is pretty stiff. Hopefully it will loosen up with time.

OEM armrest on an MT Fit
My pic below shows the OEM armrest fully extended, the shifter is in the Neutral position. You can see the amount of clearance... It doen't get in the way of shifting at all...... if anything it gets a little in the way of the parking brake, but I got used to pulling it from the side.
Don't be confused by the custom leather on the armrest it's just a cover over the OEM armrest, made to look like the OEM top.

Yeah it swings up and completely out of the way, but I almost never leave it up.
5MT w/ Navi.... I love it, but I had to wait 4 months for it ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ould-i-do.html
Also check this thread for info on the custom armrest cover, and parking brake cover ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ft-boot-3.html
thanks for the compliment, and I'm glad I could help.

I performed the Honda Console install today on my '09 5 sp Manual Transmission (GE8) Fit. Thanks to everyone for the tips... I managed to do the entire install without any issues whatsoever. Took me about 1h 10 mins, and I was going at a nice calm pace. Can be done in about 30 mins if you're in a hurry!
I wanted to chime in and say that this does NOT get in the way of shifting the manual stick on a 5sp manual transmission Fit. Furthermore, I slid the top armrest piece all the way forward, and even then I managed to shift rather easily. (I dont need it all the way forward though).
So bottom line is that if you were thinking about getting this for the 5sp manual '09, and had doubts about it, DON'T WORRY, it is absolutely perfect, and does not get in the way at all. I don't need to swing it up out of the way. (But thats an option if you really like to).
