He must've misunderstood me when I said "front" - I meant windshield. He said they don't do the windshield because it's illegal to do any tint on the windshield, but if customers want that they charge $125 just for the windshield and they have to sign a waiver.

The car looks good, though it's a little hard to tell how green it is. It looks more grey, and the Touareg's looks greener, definitely. But the Touareg's glass is greener to begin with. It's cloudy right now and dark so I'll have to wait until tomorrow when the sun is out and hopefully I'll see some green in my tint. It looks great anyway.

I'll post some pictures after the weekend.
That's odd. In Maryland, the law is no more than 5" from the top of the windshield.

What do you mean by 5" from the top of the windshield?

Sorry for no photos yet. I'm busy at work and won't get a chance to take photos until tomorrow.

I woke up today and verified that there's green in my tint. It's like a grey/green. It's a little weird though with the front windshield not being tinted as the rest of the windows. Seems like all the light comes from the front (duh). But it's okay. From the outside all the rear windows seem darker than the fronts because of the all-black interior. The light reflecting off the dash and front seats lighten up the tint on the front windows.

But for sure the tint makes the car look more expensive!! Nice!!

Hey there. Just wanted to double check with you to see what kind of tint I'll be getting on my Orange Revolution this week. The shop only does Llumar ATR High performance dyed/metal films and I'm getting "Charcoal", 35% front, 15% back (Llumar ATR CH SR HPR film to be exact). Are you saying that this will have a greenish hue to it??? Thought I'd ask before I get a real shock when I see my car....

V-Kool is what I'm looking at. Hopefully, I will take a look at the stuff sometime in the next week. This stuff is not made to block the visible light so much as the UV and infrared. It's spectrally-selective. I shouldn't get any hassle from having it on the front side windows. It's interesting to note the difference between solar energy reflected versus absorbed versus transmitted.

I went to a different tint place yesterday, and apparently they know their stuff and don't lie and extort like my first shop. (I'm wanna just kick myself) They said I don't have ATR, but ATC. Supposedly it's more reflective. ?? So I have ATC 35 all around now (they replaced my stupid lighter 50% on the rear windows) except for the windshield. It looks like a dark grey/green. And funny, whenever I say "mild green tint" to anyone, they think bright fluorescent green or something. It's similar to the inherent green on factory tinted glass. So it's a nice charcoal grey/green. I love it. It's dark enough to block the strong sun here effectively, but not so dark like a limo's. I personally don't like that dark tint that most people (here anyway) like.

I originally wanted just a mild green tint, like you find on factory Audi or VW glass for example. But it turned out good. I'm happy. Just much poorer.

ATC??? That doesn't even show up on Llumar's own specification sheet on their films: http://www.llumar.com/PDF/English/LL...t%20-%20NA.pdf

Great...off to googling I go! I wanted a metallic film with minimal reflectivity and NO greenish hue (i.e. opposite of what you asked for).

Found this explanation at this website (Ultimate Window Tinting -Automotive Tinting Services) :

LLUMAR PREMIUM DYED ATC - replaces AT line of premium non-metallic dyed:
Llumar Non-Metal Films with Llumastar technology (color-stable warranty) provide a high-quality non-reflective appearance that will blend with every vehicle. The traditional construction of Llumar with its solution-dyed color and its ultraviolet-absorbing layer and scratch-resistant coating make it a durable choice for those preferring non-metal films. Unlike lower quality color-coated products, Llumar's deep-dyed process impregnates the color completely throughout the film, ensuring greater color consistancy.
Available in a wide variety of light transmissions and shades, Llumar Traditional Non-Metal Automotive Films are an attractive, yet economical compliment to any vehicle.

LLUMAR HIGH PERFORMANCE ATR- hybrid metallic film:
High-performance metallizied aluminum combined with a Llumastar (color-stable warranty)solution-dyed polyester substrate and an ultraviolet-absorbing layer make the ATR series an attractive addition to your vehicle. The dyed film layer in Llumar ATR tinting provides greater color uniformity and stability than films made with color-coated components, The virtually invisable metal layer gives excellant heat rejection to keep your and your passangers more comfortable. And the great selection of shades and light transmissions available allow you to compliment any vehicle's style and color.

Although the ATR I'm getting is "charcoal", apparently it does impart a slight greenish hue. Sigh. Well, I can't wait to see how it turns out when I pick up my car this Wednesday! Note: the Llumar ATR tint also comes in bronze or stealth (neutral grey).

Did you get your money back from the first place? I'd go back to the place that you did the second time and get in writing that the first place put the wrong tint on, then gave you the wrong kind the second time, and then go back to the first place and dispute the service. If it's bad enough you had to go somewhere else, then you really deserve your money back. Maybe not all of it if they only fixed a couple windows, but at least get credit for the windows that weren't right.
