Dealer Quote Seems High

So I just got a quote from a local dealer and it seems a bit high to me. I can probably negociate the price down $200.

$16,910.00 - '09 Honda Fit Sport
$195.00 - Appearance Package
$670.00 - Destination/Freight
$100.00 - Processing
$1,072.50 - D.C. Vehicle Sales Tax (6%)
$143.00 - D.C. Tag/Title/Registration Fees
$19,094.50 - Total OTD

What do yall think? Destination and freight seem super high

It's actually not bad. The $670 destination is a Honda charge, not a dealer charge. If you look at any listings of the msrp there is a note that the $670 "destination and handling charge" is excluded. As far as the others charges, $100 processing isn't super high - I was quoted $300-$900 at some dealerships (which is crazy high). I don't know what the appearance package gets you to know if that is high, but all in all not a bad first quote from the dealer.

Is it automatic? Compare MSRP to previous posts by many.
Destination correct, processing lower than most ($300 to 600), registration, title and tag by the book. Appearance package? whats that? a wax job, lol
The kicker is the 6% sales tax in DC. Based on tax, selling price was 'actually' $17875.00. How'd he get that? Sales tax is usually on hardware not processing etc.
You actually got a pretty honest quote.

"doc fees" or "processing fees" are typically added BEFORE tax as in my case. Some others have confirmed that too. May be different from different states so I can't speak for all.

I have an 07 Mazda3 GT that I'm looking to sell so as to buy the Fit. I liked the 07 Fit but something said no go. The 09 Fit, man she's sweet.

I wouldn't ditch the Appearance Package...

If you have good skills- you can get them to throw it in the deal for FREE

Because I only drive 4500 miles a year and she takes premium and I can lower my payments by 130 bux a month and insurance by $500 a year.

Its a tough decision. I love my GTI. I am also looking at the KIA soul.
