Just did 2 2009 Fits today at the local honda dealer, both cars start to finish total time was 4 hours 22 minutes. Installed Polarstart remote starters with ADS TB bypass modules and was esy as pie.

The Honda remote start junk is hideously expensive and has no range and since they started doing that in 2007 for various vehicles they have been problematic.

Oh and it's oly $349 installed for the aftermarket starter that has way more range and when installed properly will never ever fail.

Reading through the install instructions if you follow them all it is about 4-5 hours labour for the honda one if they follow the install guide to the "t"....rediculous

WHY do I read this things AFTER I get things installed??? Not what I want to hear. Yes, very expensive for the Honda remote starter but I figured it was worth the added cost to have the genuine article in my car (no need to hide a key, integrated with my security/immobilizer systems). So the OEM starter is junk???? How so exactly (I'm curious, not defensive)?

So when my dealer quoted me 4-5 hours, he was correct then. Hmm. Also, if you do know about the Honda remote starter unit, can you answer a question? I was wondering if the "auto defrost function" works with the '09 Fit Sport? I did ask my dealership and they said no, but I always double check. If I set my climate control dial to windshield defrost then program my remote for "auto defrost", will the rear defogger/heated side mirrors go off when I activate the starter? Would be great if it did because, as is, only my front window gets defrosted then I have to hit the button when I get in the car to do the rear/side mirrors....

As I was looking through the Webasto website for sunroof options (I really, really want a sunroof), I saw this product they offer BlueHeat® Main It's not factory Honda as you'd like but if the auto defrost (rear & front window) is important to you, maybe you should look into it. It also pre-heats the engine, and "heats" the inside of your car. It doesn't say anything about side mirrors ( i dont think it says, didnt read it too much), so I dont know if it will solve that problem. But if all else fails try finding out more info from them.

I'm thinking about the sunroof, and the seat ventilation (Hot & Cold), but if I end up getting the JDM seat's I guess I'd have to wait to get the vents installed.

I got the aqcuiring accessories/parts/options "fever" just like you.

I've got so many things I wanna get, I'm now utterly confused.

I read somewhere other benefits of the Honda product are safety features. If you leave wipers on they will be shut off so frozen to the windshield wipers or heavy snow loads won't harm wipers. The fact that you don't waste an ignition key is of value too. Dealerships don't give programmed keys away now, the want a fair amount of money for a new one. I will try to find the article listing the advantages of the Honda product.

Well yeah, with my Mazda3, I had a Polarstar remote starter installed. Lost one of my keys and getting a new one cost me $80! At least now I know that the Honda immobilizer and security alarm will work properly with the OEM remote starter. I'd really like to know what "Injundon" meant by stating that it is "junk"....

I keep trying to spread it your way, but I still get the same message, even though I knew it went through yesterday. I'll keep spreadin my love around and I'll try you again after.

Really funny how we're now consumed by this.

Now that I'm not consumed about when my '09 Fit will arrive and when it will be out of the shop, I have to have something to amuse me... Yes, we both spend way too much time on this forum.

Hey Fit Canada, did you check the link I posted just above?

It might solve your defrost problems.

I did look at that website and it's interesting! Main downside to the remote starters is that yes, the engine is warmed up but the interior remains freezing cold until you actually get going. You have to remember that my neck of the woods gets hard core winter! Anything to get beyond the shivering stage (for us humans) quicker would be great so I'll keep it in mind. Thanks! Oh and just spread some rep power your way....

Holy COW!! $1795 USD installed. Um, I'll freeze my booty off instead, thank you very much. Wow, $$$$$$$$$

I think I'm still at 5 as well. Hopefully my car will be more reliable than this website.
