Canadian audio system????????
Canadian audio system????????
Ok, Honda Canada seriously screwed up on their listed data for the audio system in the '09 Sport Fit. Some places I see this listed as 160W, others say 200W (wasn't it that last year??) Also, I'm assuming that by "6 speakers" they really mean 1 speaker in each door (as per LX) plus 2 tweeters mounted at the corners of the front dash. However, the LX I'm currently driving also has those tiny speakers (I'm assuming that's what they are) mounted in the same place. What gives?
Lastly, every advertising (Honda Canada website, small brochure, full brochure) lists a 5 mode equalizer in the Sport. However, the owner's manual and the car itself do not have an equalizer! I've looked everywhere and tried every button configuration for the stereo system, but no equalizer. Am I just overlooking something? I don't think so but Honda Canada and my dealer are adamant that there IS an equalizer in my car. Hopefully other Canadian Sport owners can chime in here as this is very frustrating...
To sum up, is the 2009 Sport audio system 160W or 200W and is there a 5 mode equalizer in the car? If yes, how do you access this EXACTLY?

I don't think the tweeters are installed on the LX. They look like they are but it's only the grill there.
Well if the tweeters are tiny circles mounted far forward, at each corner of the dash (up by windshield), then both my Sport and the LX I'm currently driving have them. Unless they don't actually work in the LX but then why would they have put them there?
Note that Honda Canada has now amended their website by REMOVING the 5-mode equalizer listed for the Sport. I called them Tuesday and after some explaining, they promised to "look into it". However their 2009 Honda Fit brochures DO list an equalizer....

I'll have to test that out on my LX. Would make sense though having "empty" non-functional parts seems silly. Well, as you say, it may be due to cost savings which would explain the situation.
I took a picture of the spec sheet on my car the fist day it arrived at my dealership. I zoomed in on the audio specs and you can see that it clearly says 200W.

I could have sworn my Owner's Manual said 160W. Since I don't have access to this (don't have my car), could someone else in Canada check to see what they say about the watts? I already KNOW that the manual says nothing about an equalizer...

For the tweeters, you can either look for that round chrome center that you usually see in speakers. Or, turn the bass all the way down and the treble all the way up and turn up the volume and see if you can hear anything from the tweeters.
As far as the stereo, we have the same here. They sometimes advertise 200W, but it's 160W across the line. Interesting that they did this as the outgoing Sport had 200W...or did it?, as well as the EQ.

So I can now report that the Canadian LX does NOT have operational tweeters. There are "faux tweeters" installed at the corners of the front dash but they don't actually work.... yes, I do have a very high "need to know" factor.
Both the LX and Sport (haven't sat in a DX) have 1 speaker in each door for a total of 4. The Sport also has 2 tweeters at the front corners of the dash. The LX has "faux tweeters" in the same spot (don't work). No equalizer of any kind in the 2009 Sport....
If you push the big button repeatedly you can adjust the bass, mid and treble. I guess that's still a poor man equilizer in my book, on the other hand, I been leaving everything on 'C' or neutral settings as I thought the sound is quite good right out of the box (at least with mp3/cd's). Classical not as good but not bad.

Also note that the "faux tweeters" are on the DX model too.
This happens to me all the time!
Also owning a 09 LX in canada - I was thinking of adding the tweeters...ANyone do it? they are $49 each at the dealer, but no one knows if the wiring is there or not.....Do u know?

These are not "faux tweeters". They are empty grills that pop off by hand. Pull one off and take a look for the wires. I did on my DX and there are NO wires. If you're going to add aftermarket tweets then look at Amazon. They sell the Pioneers TS-T15 for 40 bux.
Okay, for you fellow Canuks BestBuy.ca has Alpine 6.5" Component Car Speaker (SPS-600C) for $99.99 and if you price match at FutureShop you save another 10%. So to recap FutureShop's price match police gives you the SPS-600C for $95 CAD.
