US Market Snubbed Again - UK Jazz Details

As always all the really "cool" stuff I wanted on my '09 US Fit will be available on the Jazz in Europe.....

A link to the brochure if you are interested:

http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/_assets/.../jazz/Jazz.pdf

Some of the available equipment:

Honda's new automated 6 speed MT: "i-shift"

Auto-Temp HVAC Controls

Panoramic Roof

Windscreen Rain Sensor

Rear LED Lights

Heated Side Mirrors w/electric fold

Two Tier Boot (no spare however then)

Adjustable Headlight Angle (for heavy loads - although I think this may be against DOT regs in the US? I have it on almost every rental car I have ever had in Europe however)

Shift Up/Down indicator on the tach to maximize mpg on MT models

Auto-Headlights with dusk sensor

Rear Center Armrest

Privacy Glass

.....and I am sure theres a few more goodies buried in there. Probably end up being a $25K Fit by the time it was all done in the US market.

Not a problem at all. I've always been fascinated by all the extra "stuff" the small European market cars get - be it Honda, VW, etc. Some of it I think is purely related to their attitude about small cars (along with our "capsule hotel" loving cousins to the East). For practical purposes they require smaller cars but don't want to give up any gadgets.

Perhaps I am just living in the wrong country....:~)

Import?

Just curious - are you guys able to import euro or us spec cars into Canada without any hassle....or is it as it is down here in the US where we have to jump through all kinds of DOT and EPA hoops to do it?

no matter where you import a car the government makes you jump through all kinda of hoops. its better to get your domestic model and buy the edm tid bits that you like to make your car more desirable.

You can import anything for the right price But I think the general rule (for non North American cars) is that the car has to be 15+ years old before it can be imported lol. We have a lot of old Sylvia's and Skylines around for this reason. If the car is offered in North America, then you just have to have to have all the safety features added and pay the licensing and taxes.

Yep, it's surprising what they've got over there. I found out that VW offered HIDs with leveling motors on the Euro MK4 cars so of course I had to have them for my old '00 GTI.

It's a little easier importing into Canada. Here's some info on BMWs but the main items will be the same for most other Euro cars.

OK, on a second inspection....I am not so sure those are Bluetooth call control buttons now Checkout the page in the UK brochure where they show the full dash and check the text to the left: "Steering wheel mounted controls give you control of the CD/radio player and cruise control, and ALLOW YOU TO SCROLL THROUGH THE MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY SCREENS WHILE KEEPING YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL"

In looking at the UK Jazz and Australian Jazz accy brochures it looks like the optional Bluetooth call controls are on a small controller that mounts to the a-pillar.

And why would you need steering wheel mounted controls for the info display....because their computer has more functions than ours of course....

The additional functionality mentioned in the brochure:

Estimated Driving Distance
Outside Temp
Speed Alarm

Interesting that there doesn't appear to be the option of HID lights for the Jazz. Usually the Europeans are pretty critical about lighting so that kinda surprises me.

I'm used to seeing levelers (apparently manual versions for the Jazz) on HID lights but they're apparently for halogens in this case.

Yeah - now I am kinda curious if there are Honda OEM HID lights offered in any of the Jazz/Fit markets.....

Lol. That's funny.

I would love the outside temp gauge. I wonder how much more it would cost Honda to integrate it into the existing odometer/FE gauge. I'm surprised we don't get it here.

Refrigerated top glove box???????????

Did anyone else read that? For the 1.4 i-VTEC ES, they get a refrigerated top glove box???????

I want more info about that Bluetooth. As is it now I'm so frustrated with Honda for having blocked our Bluetooth on Navi versions, I'm just gonna stick with my wireless Bluetooth adapter. It would be nice to have it integrated with the Navi where the Caller ID shows up, and the call goes thru the audio....

Those shades are for the small rear windows?? I cant see too clearly from the pics.

I'd happily give up the factory navigation system for these other goodies.

But only if I can get it all in pink.
