Help - Rear Spring Installation
Help - Rear Spring Installation
OK, I've just completed the FRONT install of my new RS*R lowering springs and I'm on to the rear - which are supposed to be a snap.
But after removing the 14mm bolt from the bottom of the shock and allowing everything to drop an inch or two, I don't see how to pull the spring out!
Can someone enlighten me here?
The Skunk2 installation instructions have been helpful and perfectly useful even though they're for the old model. But all they say about the rear is to pop the bolt out, the perch will drop, and you pull the spring out - but that spring is in there tight!
Any pointers would be most appreciated!

It seems that's what's supposed to happen, but after unbolting the shock, the spring itself seems to be held in tight under it's own tension.
I've tried pulling on it and twisting it, but it's not budging. And there's no more bolts or fasteners I can see anywhere to un-do to loosen things up any.
This is most frustrating.

...Maybe I have to do BOTH sides at the same time...I've only done the passenger side as of right now.
I'm going to run out and try both sides and see what happens & report back.

haha yes do both sides at the same time.
Thanks everyone - it's done!!!!
Yes, you definitely have to unbolt BOTH rear shocks to allow enough drop to occur to get the springs out. Even then you have to wrestle them a bit, just a little twisting and pulling. But then BOOM! they're both out.
Then it was a bit of a dance between putting both new springs in, as they're shorter, and want to fall out of position when you're working on the other side. Not a big deal.
So my Sunday project is over - yeay!!! Now it's time to schedule an alignment. I'm gonna run out and snap some pics, too!
(Saturday project = Type R "H" badges F/R, "RS" badge on rear, and red carbon fiber-look "H" badge on steering wheel.)
