Fit sport Ipod dock

So the Ipod dock with the USB port on the Fit Sport is the coolest thing ever--with one big exception. I have a large music collection and when I'm searching for an artist or album, it takes several minutes of constant cranking on the selector knob to get even partway through the alphabet.

It's inconvenient, and I also feel that the knob is bound to fail because of all that cranking--probably as soon as the warranty is up.

Anybody know a way around this? It seems like a lot of people must have this problem, so I thought maybe there was a software update or some way to get through the list other than that knob. Sure, I could control it directly from the Ipod, but then I'd have wires all over the place and the inconvenience of two volume controls.

I'm right there with you on that one!! Not just because I live one city away from you either! ha ha... I was hoping that there was a way to access random playing, and I just hadn't figured it out yet. Looks like I'm gonna be cranking that dial for a while!

Yeah same problem, I usually only end up playing artists that name start with a g or lower since I never have the patience to go through it all. If I really want a specific song I do it with the ipod but I usually just go to the songs section and set it on random. I wish the knob would skip through things ALOT faster though.

Wait, so there's a random in the songs section?! That might be the answer to my needs! I'm going to have a looksee at it. I guess I've been to lazy to look deeper. Though, I've only had mine fit for a few days.

Yeah just go to the songs section and then theres a button on the right that says random select. It starts with 1/500 or however many songs you have and whenever you hit the next button it picks a song randomly.

I find it easier to select my playlist/artist/album on the ipod itself (before I start driving that is) rather than scroll through with the car's selector knob....

This is probably the highest on my list of the couple things I don't like about my Fit, it sucks scrolling through. If someone else is in the car they don't want to use the USB hookup, they'll just use the AUX.
