high beam indicator faintly on

My high beam indicator light/symbol is on when my lights are off. It is lit up very faintly. When I turn my lights on it goes away. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a defect?

Daylight running lights, that's normal.

is that the reason?

I think it could possibly be the faint glow could be due to leakage from the dashboard backlighting showing through the blue indicator. When you turn on your lights, the dash lights dim (from the day setting, unless you manually turned the little reset switch clockwise to bump up the brightness) and the faint glow becomes fainter.

Does that make sense?

Its the DRL - see pgs 65 and 75 in the owner's manual.

I thought mine was broken, because I couldn't see the faint high beam light. Well, it just turned out to be glare, because as the day starts getting darker or overcast, I can faintly see it.

I wonder if Honda intented this as a reminder to turn on your lights at night. Like SheepNutz said, as the day gets darker the DRL indicator shows better. Hmmm...

no, don't worry it's not a defect. That is your DRL ( daytime running light) indicator. I found that really weird also. but I guess that honda does not want to add another/extra light in the instrument panel. If you try starting your car with e-brake on, you will not see the high beam indicator. but as soon as you release the hand brake, it will dimly lit up. but if you turn your headlight on, it's gonna go away until you turn your high beam on. try it!
