Ordered some Armrests for our Fits

I don't think these cars are finished from the factory or something. Why else would one feel the need to buy all these accessories if they were.

It's like Honda built a car that's good enough to hook you, and then puts out a bunch of stuff that'll make it feel just right, emptying your pockets in the process.

$40.00 I HAD to put in a louder horn. I'd have been destroyed by the clown in the Range Rover last night had he not heard my louder horns.
$1250.00 I HAD to put in a sunroof. And they're not an option here.
$160.00 Why should I have access to a UBS device in my Sport, but not in my wife's base, so we needed one of those.
$200.00 Needed mats.
$350.00 Both of our Fits could benefit from a place for our right elbows while sitting in traffic. And a place to stash yet more stuff. So armrests are on order.
Door sill trim? Why should we kick the paint?
Rear bumper applique? Why should we nick the paint?
I don't think it will end. Because it's not a complete car when you take delivery. It's like 90% there. A Civic would have been more than 90% there. And probably have cost less out the door. But a bland boring Civic is not a Fit, and it's the Fit that made me smile more.

So the point of this post. There are two armrests coming my way. I'll post pics and install info when they're here.

I for one am glad it came that way - Except for the little weener horn. ... hate throwing away good parts because I want it different. And I certainly didn't want a sunroof... I want as much sun as I can blocked (In AZ we got so much sunlight we don't have to save it.)

Lots of people like to customize their cars and I am one of those.

Though I will agree that floor mats would have been good ... in reality I probably paid less for the mats by shopping around then getting it added to the cost of stuff and raising the cost of the car that much more... because there is no free lunch.

I don't know, I think those are really preference and pushing the limit of how much protection for your car do you want. I mean if you're going to say that, you might as well get seat covers for all the seats so you don't get them dirty, and 3M your whole car 'cause why would you want to get any of the paint nicked off?

Personally speaking, I'd get the door sill trim 'cause it looks pretty sweet, not so much because you'll be stepping on it or whatever, 'cause chances are you'll be doing that with any car. The more you cover/protect your car, the less of a car it becomes with regards to what you originally loved about it. Even if the appliques or whatever are clear, they're still visible and up close it just doesn't look the same with them on.

I think it might have something to do with the price point. They are trying to keep the cost of the car low.

But that in turn makes owners have to additionally buy accessories.

Door sill trim, ok thats not 100% necessary, same with the sport pedals, steering wheel/handbrake cover, upgraded shift knobs, panel trims, and things of that nature.

But for floor mats, cargo cover, body side moulding, and maybe even armrest. All my previous Honda's/Acura's had these as standard with the exception of the armrest. And now on the Fit they are all considered optional.

Some accesories should be optional, but others that were included before should still be included now. (imo)

rear bumper applique...the only reason i would ever buy this is IF i had already scratched the paint back there. so, this is a possible purchase for the future should my home depot runs get the best of the bumper. otherwise, if it ain't broke don't fix it, eh?

I agree. There's got to be a limit. And it should be arrived at far before the point where someone would go out and purchase one of those ridiculous "bumper bully" things and then actually drive around with the thing flapping around on the back bumper. (google it) Hello?

I have never wanted to tweak and personalize a car as much as I do the Fit. The Odyssey was fine the way it was. Came with everything I wanted, I guess. The Civic EX 4dr was fine the way it was too. Came with everything too. I guess the Fit just didn't have everything I want it to.

I probably won't go for the sills, or rear bumper thing. Not now anyways. I don't think they're a necessity. I was listing them for illustrative purposes. Seat covers? Hmm. Maybe some with flames on them. Or Tweety Bird. LOL. Have you seen the amount of dust, dander, and other manner of foreign contaminants these seats seem to attract. Sheesh.

Good thing I bought the Bissel Garage Buddy vacuum at Costco. Mounted inside the door of the garage, has a 32 foot hose and lots of nozzles. I can clean both Fits without lugging out the wet/dry or plunking quarters into the one at the gas station.

See what buying these cars did? It even made me buy a vacuum cleaner.

Nice ... I never tried that trick on the wife to tell her why I had to buy a new garage vac.
