Quick update for everyone. I had a short in my fan switch from the dealer washing the engine. It's all good now!

 

I know this is an old thread, but I have a fix for the issue of the A/C being on in heat/defrost. I turn it back towards heat just a smidge (just out of the indent), so that I still get air to the defrost outlets, and to the heater outlets, but the A/C doesn't come on.

 

There's another thread that has a consistent solution.

Unplug the wire from the vent knob.
