Steering Wheel Removal

My friend wants to take off his steering wheel so he can bring it to Thailand to get covered in Leather with red stitching.

Is there a DIY to show him how to remove it correctly?

There are several threads on this- you just have to use the "search" function. Or PM member kenchan. He replaced his stock 1st. gen. wheel with aftermarket to get the wheel closer to his body.

it's pretty easy. just one thing to remember.
make sure you dissconnect the battery 5 minutes
before you start. so you don't have the air bag go off.
other than that it all should be straight forward.
one other thing mark the bolt on the steering wheel
befor you take it off so the wheel goes back on in the
exact place you took it out from.

How do you remove the black plastic cover with the H logo on it. Are there screws somewhere or do you just pull it of with a bit of force.

look on the back of the steering wheel near the paddle shifters.
you will see holes and in those holes you will see most likely bolts.
undo those to get the air bag off. which is the hole H honda logo
plastic piece. be careful not to pull to hard after you unbolt it.
because you will have to unclip the wire harness from behind
off the air bag.
once you do that you will see what else is needed to take off the
steering wheel itself.
