Infinity BassLink Subwoofer Install
Infinity BassLink Subwoofer Install
I'm planning on taking the Infinity BassLink out of my Prius and installing it into the Fit. I've already read about how hard it is to get through the firewall but haven't seen any (or at least haven't found it) tips on how to tap the front L/R speakers. I'll probably use the front L/R speakers for my sub inputs. Also is there any good grounding point close to the rear hatch? That would save me from having to do 2 cable runs to the front of the car.
I assume I'll have to tap the head unit but not sure if there's another way. In the prius, there was a separate JBL amp to tap off of. Is there anything like that in the Fit or is the entire deck the amp?
Thanks to anyone that can help!

Its really not that hard to get through the door panels but it does take some time. You can find the speaker wires in either side front kick panels to tap into. Also going through the fender and grounding to already existing bolts are BIG NO NO's! Doing those things can cause you headaches in the future. I am a installer at a car audio shop and i have cars come back all the time for those exact reasons. If you have any other questions feel free to shoot me a PM and I can help you out as much as possible.
- Ground wire is the same gauge as your power wire to the amp
- Grounded as close as possible to the amp (within 3ft)
- Ground to the thickest area of sheet metal possible
- Add a star washer, ring terminal, and scrape the paint off under the bolt.
How many fuel/brake lines have been punctured due to drilling?
Do you run separate ground lines throughout the car etc.?
The only issue I could think of by grounding as I did would be that since I am still using the stock stereo which is grounded along with my turn signals, headlights etc., there could conceivably be an issue with a ground loop...but, I have no such issues with my install and have just about every device possible installed which would exacerbate any grounding issue (Bluetooth over FM, HID's, 12v devices like radar detectors etc.).

You can ground to those spots they are just not very good, and yes we make new grounds for every amp install. You did make a couple good points though. Your ground wire should be as short as possible and you should use star washers when you do your grounds because it makes a bigger contact area and keeps it from wiggling loose. You just need to be very careful when you drill new holes so you dont puncture any lines or fuel tank. I have never punctured any lines and neither have the other 2 installers i work with. Also you are saying that you are using one ground for all of those? If so it will work for a while but may cause you problems in the future if you keep adding more. The more grounds you have the better.
I just want to say thanks for the input so far!
Can anyone tell me color codes to tap into for the front L/R speakers? I guess I could just go into the door and look but I thought I'd save some time and just ask.
I'll probably tap from the head unit, unless the Infinity speaker wire that comes with the BassLink will reach both doors. At first i was thinking of tapping the rear speakers but decided against it in case I want to remove the rear speakers from the mix later on.
The Prius was nice in one way: the battery was in the trunk, so the power cables were very short.
