Take it to another dealer, if possible or complain to Honda about it. Somebody should make it right.

Thanks for the updates. Honda America called to see how satisfied I was with the service I received, and I was pretty frank with them. Not only did the dealership not fix the rattle, but they didn't even take care of the little things like resetting the oil-life meter. And I suspect (judging by the thickness of the oil on the dipstick) that they put 5W30 in instead of 5W20. I'll check with them on the oil type on Tuesday, and try to get them to install a new glovebox.

I took mine in last week and they made some adjustments, and so far no rattles.

I put something heavy in it, such as the manual books and a small portable umbrella in there and that seems to have weighed it down enough to not rattle.

No problems with mine thus far...I'm the opposite you whyzor. I keep my manual in the map pocket on the back of the passenger seat and have nothing but a pen, tire gage and some napkins in my glove.

mine started rattling last week, but its come and gone. The car only has less than 1000 miles on it. It seemed to me like the lock/hinge in the middle part is making the sound. It hasn't rattled the past 2 days. I hope it stays that way, cux when it does rattle, its annoying as hell.

Now that the weather warms up I don't get it any more (I have not changed what I put in the glovebox) but now I get an intermittent creak/pop from the upper right hand dash...I can't replicate it! At least when the glovebox was really misbehaving I could open it :P

If you pull the glove box open all the way and let it hang on its hinges for too long (i.e. to change the cabin filter or do a mod) the glove box stretches a bit and gets some slack into it. Mine started rattling intermittently after an experience like this.

Is the rattle more like a 'BUZZZZZZ' sound? I get this from the glove compartment area on my 09 Fit Sport, and it happens only when I reach certain RPMs on the engine... I guess there is a sweet spot where it vibrates and makes something buzzzzzzz. I hate it!!!!

This is exactly what mine does. I'm certain it's also the same piece in your car that's loose that's in mine. I've just been too lazy to track it down and fix it, if someone out there knows what it is, I'd love to know about it.

Well, it cannot be the SAME piece. Or are you the jester opening my car at night and putting that piece in my car? Stop doing that already.

They're ordering a new glove box to fix my rattle at the hinge. It should be in probably next week.

No, it really is the SAME piece, it just has a very disperse wavefunction. That's why it only rattles sometimes in your car, because when it's not, it's rattling in someone else's car (sometimes, mine). It's also why you can't find it when you go looking for it, it's the same principle as trying to figure out which slit a photon is going through in the two-slit experiment.

I knew the Fit shouldn't have used quantum technology....

Mine has come and gone !

It started earlier this summer after being driven on some rough
highway . stayed for seemingly a month or so and left mysteriously .
I also had a B pillar squeak that did that and stopped , although
not at the same time as the glovebox .
Now when I drive over that same stretch of road ( not close to my house , its on the Interstate ) it will start to rattle , but I open the
box and it stops and doesn't continue . I live in the south and
wonder if some heat/cold conditions contribute to the rattle , using the
A/C and all .
I hope it stays gone , but if it comes back I'm taking it to the dealership. I was just about to when it stopped.
Later All

It definitely is affected by temperature. But recently I rode in a car that had maybe 60,000 miles on it, and not one single squeak from their glove box, and it was a Toyota. My squeak started around mile 600 and I'm about at mile 1,100.

So now is as good a time as any to call Honda on it's glove box rattle and get it fixed.

I brought my MT Sport in to Potamkin NY yesterday for its second oil change. They replaced the lower glovebox under warranty and the rattle is now gone. This time they also reset the oil-life meter, and the car was ready when promised. It seems that the dealerships respond when you give them bad reviews with Honda. This time it will be a very good review.
