Infant/Child Seat
We have newborn twins. 2 Graco snugride carseats fit more or less... I need to move the front seats a bit to the front. Sometimes grandma rides in the middle seat. There's more space for her if the seats are attached by seat belts.

Just to clarify a few of the car seat fitment questions/concerns: your local child safety seat inspection station can be found using this site:

Never thought of visiting this thread, but we got a little one coming this April and there's not stopping her. We got our selves the Britax Chaperone model, just like this one:

So I'm glad by reading some of the post that it should fit the Fit.

HI B-Blue, am a new member looking to buy a 2011 base model fit in the next month. Our baby is due in two months and wondering if the Britax chaperone with base ending up fitting in your car? Did you check the 80/20 ratio?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The best thing to do is take the car to Babys r us and test fit several seats. You can even do it during a test drive.
We got a Chicco Keyfit 30 and were happy with it. I'm 6'2" and require a little more legroom to the detriment of carseat space but it fit fine, albeit a bit snugly.
We ended up getting a Mazda 5 for my wife and have since moved up to a larger carseat, the Britax Boulevard. Since doctors recommend a rear-facing arrangement until 2 years, at 18 months we still haven't turned it around. This is a bit off the subject but the heat has been brutal lately and having a rear-facing seat, airflow is completely disrupted. To combat this, I built a rudimentary ventilation system for the time being.
I haven't tried the new carseat in the Fit since it's more of a permanent setup than the Keyfit 30 but I really don't think it would work out comfortably. But again, I have not tried it. I'm sure it would be much better in a forward-facing setup, but that leaves the window of at least a year until you switch to front-facing.
So be mindful of future, larger car seats you will have to purchase.
Here's a couple of pics of the a/c duct system:

It's attached to the vent in the center console, which is the worst place for a rear a/c vent unless you suffer from hot knee syndrome.
For my convertible seat, I went with the Evenflo Symphony 65 e3. It works pretty well in the passenger side rear seat. It doesn't sit as far forward as the Britax boulevard, and is a lot cheaper. Also, the Latch things are a lot easier to snap in and out (they auto ratchet down) which works well for me since I end up pulling the seat out to haul stuff.
And yeah, I've noticed that because of the way car seats surround the baby, they get really hot.

i have recaro sports (5point convertible to booster) for the GE and recaro booster seats for the G. my kids like them a lot. but it's actually for the parents that makes spending the extra $ worth while cause they are so convenient vs other childseats.
and the extra side impact protection you get while using them on the Fit makes it that much more sound for everyone.

It's OK.
I have the Chicco Key Fit 30 Infant Car seat and it's installed on the passenger side. It fits, the latch is awesome (car seat is super easy to use), but the passenger seat has to be moved pretty far forward. It's actually not that comfortable to sit in for a longer ride.
It doesn't bother us, because one person is always in the back with the baby and we also use the front passenger seat for storage, when necessary. Try it out at the dealer.
Also, the Fit has an amazing amount of space for a baby's stuff (assuming it's the 3 of you or even with 4 people).

We have now used:
Graco Snugride 32 (rear facing)
Britax Roundabout (Convertible)
Cosco Scenera (Convertible)
They all fit well, but my wife and I are both fairly short so we don't need the seats to go back too far! When they were in the center, they all fit pretty well between the two front seats without needing to reposition them. Of course once we flipped the convertibles to front-facing then it was basically a non-issue.

when we test drove the fit, first thing i did was install my son's carseat.
I was sold on the safety features such as a side curtain airbags and it was still roomy for him. The latches seems to be standard on all vehicles 2003 and up. I know my mom's 2002 avalon does not have it but my 2003 tacoma and 03 corolla had latches.
We carry a small stroller which fits fine in the hatch but might have difficulty fitting a full size stroller.
The only concern i really have are the big suv's here in socal that love to tailgate smaller cars.
I made sure i had a baby in car sticker but most of them still do not keep a safe distance.

I have a 2011 Fit sport. I fit my son's full size stroller no problem. The only issue I had was that I took off the backseat headrest where his seat sits but with your son being so little and more than likely (i hope) rear facing you shouldnt have any issue.
