2009 Fit - Does it have dash rattles?

My 2008 Fit has so many cold weather dash rattles, I am seriously considering either asking for my money back or trading the vehicle in for a 2009 Fit. For those of you who have said, "Turn up the stereo" as a viable solution, all I can say is, drive a mile in my mocassins and you will know that these aren't your everyday dash rattles. These rattles can drive you insane. I don't want to belabor the point, but do want to ask you 2009 owners who have driven your cars in cold climates, are your dashes rattle-free?

Thanks,
CarGirl

Mine doesn't (knock on wood) but there is a thread with some GE8 owners posting about their glove boxes rattling and another thread discussing rattlling in general.

Hope this helps.

Before asking for your money back, you could ask them to fix the rattles.

CarGirl,
We are about 80 miles west of you. Same cold temps. So far, no rattles, but everything sure feels stiff in the cold. Yesterday we drove to STL on all kinds of roads. I know it was warmer but I didn't hear anything. You have a dealer right in Peoria. Sometimes they know what it is just from listening. Have them take care of the problem, or at least have them try. No reason to put up with that stuff in a new car. Rattles will drive you crazy, that's for sure.

If it gets above freezing today I can wash it!

Cheers

How long do you let the car warm up before you drive. If you just take off without letting the heat go for a while you are going to have rattles, almost any car will. How cold is cold?

My parents' 07 I think just started rattling this winter. They're in NY. So when I visited them this past Xmas and rode in it I heard the cacophony of rattles coming from inside the dash, left to right. Funny, I don't think it had a single rattle up until now. But I imagined if I owned that car, with so many rattles would I just learn to accept it? One rattle may drive me nuts, but a symphony of rattles I may not have a problem with.

Anyway to answer your question, yes the GEs rattle, though it's too early to compare to the GDs. Mine has had a few, luckily they were all accessible for me to quell them. The glove box was the remaining annoying rattle that just progressively worsened, so I had it replaced. I'm now pretty much rattle-free.

You may want to trade in your GE anyway. My parents drove mine and were sold. As much as they loved their 07, they REALLY love the 09.

That is because you live in California. Come to Minnesota on a cold day and you will go mad with rattle-anxiety.

mine may rattle in cold only initially before the car is completely warmed up. rattling is limited to the area near the upper left side (maybe the window - can't tell which part is actually rattling). most of the time there's no noise.

yes i hate rattling too because it sounds "cheap".

My OR GE Sport develops a really annoying vibration somewhere around the driver's upper seat belt anchor when driving on rough pavement, generally only at highway speeds. It's right by my left ear, so I'll definitely be taking it in to the dealer at some point to fix.

I have a slight rattle too in my 09 right under the dash but wiggling the plastic cover under the dash seems to temporarily fixes it. I am planning on tackling this issue later when parts come in and I will be in that area of the car anyways. If it is bad harass the dealer. My pop's is a service writer for Chevy and they deal with rattles all the time and usually can fix them relatively quickly... but be sure that the rattle can be noticed by a mechanic taking it out for a test drive to diagnose it. If not they will just hand the car right back to you and call you crazy. So if it only rattles in cold weather, take it in on a cold day.

I test drove numerous fit in the past weeks all in -20 to -40 weather. Not one of them had any issues with rattling and we do havde soe of the worst raods in Canada they like to say. But mind you we live in the real cold weather come winter so anything plastic is likely to make sounds some this time, either your used to it or it will drive some people nutty.

GE suspension is a little stiff. Bad news for false teeth you know.

have you considered its the weather? things contract and expand in hot and cold weather loosening this or that, you might be just trading in a problem only to have one down the line....just a though, but to answer your question I do get rattles in the glove, but its just loose items...

Not being nit-picky, and maybe this is actually something we can use; can we refer to numerous Fits as Fit?

Using it in the same fashion that the words Sheep or Geese are used?
