yah, this am i removed the cargo cover on the GE temporarily because
wife was going to carry like over 30 computers for her work. she's an IT
consultant and her customer is moving today or something and needs
extra space to haul.

ANYWAY, the point of my post... the cover is clumsy to place
inside the garage. unlike the rollup curtain type on my GD which
i can just let it stand on its own againt one wall, the GE's
huge lunch tray has a curvature so you need to stand it up
against 2 walls instead unless you want to set it horizontally
to trip yourself later...

There's another reason for a bit of a gap. The air exhausts out where the grille is in the cargo compartment. At the bottom, center, there's a grille. So if you want flow-through air, there has to be a way for the air to flow through. LOL!

How do the seats recline, the rear ones. I still haven't looked that up in my manual. And my rear seats are folded up, so I forget to check.

I really like the hard cargo cover. It's not light permeable. And I have a white car. So when I run to the store and realize I have to stop somewhere else, I don't come back to wilted lettuce or completely thawed frozen food.

Page 94 of the owners manual:

Rear Seat Adjustments

You can adjust the angle of the rear seat-backs separately. To change the
seat-back angle, pull up the release lever on the outer side of the seatback.

Cargo Shelf Mod

I just thought I would share my mod to replace the hanging carpet flaps. I read through this thread and also don't like the flap that attaches to the seat backs. I'm not interested in the ability to recline the seats either because IMO, it feels odd. So I went to work making a 3" foam gap filler that attaches to the original holes from the OEM flaps. I used a galvanized wall stud to make a long "L" bracket, some high density grey packing foam and left over carpet from my sub box. Here is what it looks like...

What do you guys think?

I think that looks better than stock, how much heavier is it, with the metal stud in there? Looks great.

I would say that it adds about 1 lb. The stud has had 1 side removed so as to make it an "L" shaped ledge and its 44" long. Originally the stud has 3 sides but it was only 2.5" wide and I needed 3" to fill the cargo cover gap. So I cut the stud's one side off and got my 3" with the foam/carpet. This gives me a soft leading edge as well as the 2 ends that overhang for a snug fit. I wanted to seal road noise as well as make my sub woofer more muffled.

That's exactly what I did.. just let em hang - i didn't want to put holes through my new $700 seat covers! Poor design.. why not just extend the entire cover so that you don't HAVE TO poke holes for the snaps??

Shelf base for 2009 Fit (Japanese model 2008)

I purchased the Cargo Cover for my Japanese market 2008 Fit. Works beautifully, except the car doesn't come with the shelf base, and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get a shelf base kit so that the shelf will rest more aesthetically.

Doh!

Of course there are pre-drilled holes, and of course I came on here after already drilling all of my holes and screwing my buttons in an inch off the top.

This isn't to say that I didn't think Honda would have thought of pre-drilling their own holes, it's just that after feeling for any depressions I couldn't feel any.

Mannnn, DIY is great but stupid when the answers are a few clicks and words away...

And I wasn't aware that the rear seats reclined either...very cool.
