Where to put my GPS

OK us poor Canadians don't even have the option of buying a Fit with Navi, (or traction control) so we are forced to use add on (not really a hardship I love my Garvin. Anyway where have some of you mounted the disk for your GPS. The window is too far away. Thanks

If by the disk you mean the antenna: I put mine on top of the middle vents inside the dash. There's one piece of plastic between the antenna and the window, but I haven't had any problems with reception yet.

No I mean the adhesive disk that you stick on the dash so the suction mount for the GPS can stick.. You use if you don't mount the unit to the window. Thanks

I have and recommend a ProClip system. Many here have these. Do a search. ProClip Mounting System - Choose Your Country . The website doesn't list one for an '09, but another poster has a thread about '09 mounts being available https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...s-09-fits.html .

I've seen a bunch of people mount it on the little window right in front of your driver side window. It's actually a really good place for it!

Not to thread jack, but for those running GPS and a radar detector, are you just using a power spiltter at the plug?

I use the Garmin Friction mount and it is awesome. No steal me mounts to leave on the dash or windows.
Amazon.com: Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount for nüvi Series and StreetPilot C5XX Series GPS Navigators (C530, C550, and C580): Electronics

I tried my Garmin 885T on the left side window (like the picture above) but wasn't line of sight enough for me, and then ended up with a beanbag/friction mount placed on the dash right between the center vent and the gauge cluster. I also ran the traffic antenna/power cord behind the radio in the dash, connected to a new accessory outlet I wired in the fuse box.

Go over to one of the Fit accessories sites like Bernardi and look up the Ipod connector accessory and then download the installation instructions PDF to see how to remove the radio. And you can pick up a set of plastic trim removal tools over at Amazon for about $10 which are worth their weight in gold in terms of making it easy to pry out the radio with minimum chances of scratching the dash or radio vs. prying with a screw driver.

Radar detector is hard-wired with remote. I routed wire through the small speaker hole and mounted remote on top of steering column-easy to see and reach for mute. My nav is an HP Travelmate powered by a USB cable. I took it behind the dash to exit at the transition between trim at the A pillar (see pic). The other end comes from behind the center console and I plug into the power adaptor when needed.

I mounted the disc between the gauges and the center vents. I had to use a different adhesive that what comes on the disc since it comes off when the dashboard heats up (big problem here in AZ). I used this mounting tape that was recommended to me by another forum-goer that is used to mount external plastics.

I spliced into the fuse box using an add-a-fuse plug-in, connected that to an extra 12v outlet, then ran the power cable for my GPS through the dash and out a corner but the stereo.

maybe I'll take some pics when i get home. I think it's a very clean setup, and mounting in a central location allows my passenger to use it as well.

The wires were pretty easy to route. I used a measuring tap to pull it from the bottom to the top.

Removing the radio was a little tricky because of a bolt that is a little difficult to reach. Once that was out, it was just a matter of pulling it hard enough to release the snaps. Just do a search on the forum and you'll find some good instructions with step-by-step images.
