I'm hoping the feeling will be equal to that of my old 5R Teg. I had Alex mounts in it as well. I very much like the direct feeling you get and the bit of on idle shake didn't and won't bother me at all.
Be sure and post up your comments on these once installed. I'd love some stiffer mounts in a hope that the manual transmission will get a little more like something I'm used to, instead of the rubber band feeling it has when the engine is torqued, and the unsmooth shifts, which I attribute to everything being so loose in addition to the clutch delay mechanism that makes it even worse.

I meant the labor! They mark up that labor on the cabin filter like crazy! BTW, I like your Kayak.

Installed the Alex mounts and I couldn't be happier. The car feels completely different in nothing but GOOD ways. Pics of the stock and Alex mounts can be seen in my thread under the GE pictures/video area.

Ahh! I figured after I hit submit. I have done cabin filters on Elements and it was very simple to do on the Fit.

Thanks!

installed Hawk HPS pads. i have such hatred towards EBC now that ive tried them. the hawks seem to have more stopping power but does lack some initial bite, best part about them is they dont grind and squeal like the ebc's.

still had 30% pad material left on the ebc but just couldnt stand the subpar braking and noise.

Good job.

I actually saw it too. But I was at work, and would instantly forget about mentioning it because of work. oops.

Installed HKS Hi-Power axle-back exhaust yesterday. Like the sound a lot--deep growl, not ricey fart can. Looks good, too.

Feels like there's a loss of power at lower RPM (below 3k), but feels stronger in the VTEC range. Of course, it is much hotter this week than last... now in 90s vs 60s/70s last week. I also have K&N SRI.

This is one of the reasons I wish I was a machinist.

I want a switchable dual exhaust system... that is fully emissions compliant at all times.

From the header goes to a large switching chamber with two outputs... at low rpm, it blocks one of the outputs. At high rpm, both are open. Each output has a complete setup (cat, muffler, etc) all the way out.

If I put a super/turbo charger... I want the exhaust to shut off one side where low rpm pressure is needed. Then, open up completely when high rpm free flow is needed.

But alas... I'm not a machinist. Anyone want to try this?

I know TC has a setup kinda similar... his switch basically dumps everything straight into the atmosphere (when closed, it's normal exhaust, when open, the open has no cat/muffler/etc.)

He does that for sound, not low end power. Restricting a turbo exhaust does nothing more than increase spool time.

Sorry... I meant I also hoped there would be a way to "turn off" the super/turbocharger so that the engine would operate in NA mode (clutch wheel?).

At which point, the single exhaust would be more than enough... when you don't need the "charger"s power.

Heck, just take the charger out of the equation... our L15a7 engine seems to like more open exhaust at higher rpm... but also our current (more restrictive) exhaust at lower rpm.

Another idea... a complete "fat" exhaust system... with a controllable restrictor somewhere inside. I was imagining something like the afterburner exhaust nozzle of an F-14 Tomcat (why do I keep thinking it's the Eagle?). It opens up as needed.

I wonder, would a simple spring controlled nozzle work? I mean, at low rpm, there's going to be some pressure. Then at high rpm, there'll be more pressure, but also more air going. That increase in pressure is used to open up the exhaust.

For example: Imagine using a large exhaust... a larger than needed for the entire range of the rpm. Then, inside... preferably in a straight section are flaps, like the F-14 exhaust nozzle. The flaps, even in the absolute closed position (no pressure) leaves a big enough opening that pressure builds up the same as stock. As the rpm climbs, the pressure should build up and push on the flaps, which are held up by springs on the back side, allowing more exhaust through. Assuming all the parts don't melt.

Hum...

Completed my summer upgrades with Swift Spring install. Sweet! Really does give that solid, connected feel like a German car. Very much worth the money, time & effort thanks to Niko's DIY. Took 3 hrs, no dropped axles.

Recap of May-June updgrades--went for function & kept stock appearance overall:
205-50-16 Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires (stock rims)
Weathertech mats (OEM rubber mats had a hole at accelerator)
Mugen short shifter (already had Skunk2 440g shift knob)
K&N Typhoon SRI
HKS Hi-Power Exhaust
Swift Mach Springs

Future updgrade:
Lighter wheels & tires (probably 15x7 Enkei RPF1)
Forced induction?

Thanks to everyone for posting up their experiences, really helped a lot.
-Lee

I've used my Fit to DO five jumpstarts.

I'm a bit dysfunctional when it some to certain things... I like symmetry. In the case of the exhaust, I'd like the look of having the second exhaust on the left as well. But obviously the Fit (stock engine) wouldn't be able to make use of it, and even suffer in the low rpm range.... unless there was the restrictor.

In any case, I guess the only way I'd see this, is if I became a machinist... but since I won't, I guess I'll never see it.

Fully detailed her and took the time to install yellow film on my fogs from headlight armor....great product which installs like a charm and is thick as $&@! which I see as a good think bc of flying rocks. They look amazing when off but you lose the yellow when the fogs are on so now I need to decide if I should do 3k hids or just throw some piaa plasma yellows in there....my only concern with the piaas is the film burning. Any input?

Installed the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags in the rear springs, tested that, added a touch of R134a to the A/C so it blows colder, and cleaned the throttle body. The TB really didn't need cleaning after 40k miles of mostly highway use. All that took about 5 hours since it was my first time really tearing apart anything on the Fit.
