New std. auto. Fit

One heck of a lot more fun than the Civic Hybrid I traded in for the it. Kind of reminds me of how much fun my new '55 VW Beetle was.

i think he meant he traded a civic hybrid for his brand new auto std fit and complimented how fun the fit is that it reminded him of his 55 vw bug.
In other words, huh?

or maybe it's a standard auto as in "manual car".

Who knows, but I do get where he's coming from. I see the similarity between the Fit and the original VW beetle. My Fit does seem to embody much of the same "out of the box" practicality and quirky sense of fun that the Beetle did. In that sense I, too, consider the Fit to be the "new Volkswagen" for our times.
