Windshield = bug magnet

Of all of the cars I have driven it seems like the Fit is the WORST for getting crap all over the windshield. As soon as I clean it, I get hit with a few bugs, within a few days I have to wash them off so I can see.

Anyone else seem to have such a problem with bugs/junk on their windshield?

I find the whole car a magnet!! I have an 09 SSM. I went outside the other day there were 3 HUGE blobs of bird poo on it. I don't even recall when a bird last poohed on my old Dodge Caravan. I guess this is happening because it's a new car.
It's also a leaf magnet...and they have to come off within a day or two as the yellow bleeds through. I have to get this thing sealed or waxed SOON! and hopefully that will help. It should according to the dozens of posts Ive read here.
Do you have the hood deflector? I'm fairly sure it's helping when it comes to bugs. I don't have anything to compare it too as I bought the deflector as an option.

all it has done here for the past month is rain, so my wipers don't stop long enough for bugs to stick

It's been really rainy here too, and the rain, wiper fluid and wipers aren't helping to get the gunk off!

If the only place they hit was the windshield, I would be happy. That is easy to clean. It is when they get on the paint that upsets me. I don't want their guts eating away at the paint. Worst of all is that I am in Florida and love bug season is starting. If you don't know what love bugs are, consider yourself lucky.

My hood is more of a bug magnet than the windshield, where can I pick up one of those deflectors???

well he is oldskool.

keep a good coat of spraywax (Prima Hydro) or RainX on your glass.

then use some Wizard's BugRelease during your regular wash. comes off very easily.

dood, count your blessings, I use to have a FJ cruiser, and the windshield is pretty much vertical, at least with the aerodynamics of the fit the bugs stand a chance, the FJ was like me running into the great wall of China...

Trust me, Jeep Wranglers are the champeeen bug slayers of all time.
I tried a bug deflector with a Dodge Raider (aka Montero), another boxy bug basher, and it did three things:
-it kept bugs off the lower half of the windshield
-it made the windshield washer spray go everydamnplace
-it cost me two miles per gallon
So I'd be hesitant to try a deflector, tho' I acknowledge that the Fit and a boxy 'ute are two different things.

ETA-actually, it did FOUR things; stones got trapped between the hood and the deflector, gouging hell out of the paint.
I keep a squeege/scrubber thing and some windshield washer fluid with baking soda on board, and I debug the windshield when it starts to bug (!) me. Baking soda in water will make the bugs come off the hood and bumper; it's some acid/base thing.

if its bird poop you have to wash it right away and don't let it dry in there. co'z if you do it will leave a huge watermark that you can't buff off.

Here in TX bugs are terrible this time of year as well. I washed her today and had to use a ton of elbow grease to scrub them off.

For the wind shield and front end i use a microfiber sponge with little holes (picked it up at wal-mart) in it to get the hard bugs off. I clay the front end every couple of months and wax the shit out of the bumper so its not to hard to get the bugs off.

The Fit windshield doesn't seem worse than any other car to me. If you really want a bug catcher, nothing beats the "police style" windshield of my Harley-Davidson, so I'm not complaining.

And that right there makes me wonder why some people in Florida still ride without a helmet. (That and the safety issues.) I guess they like the taste of bug.

Gary, I'll challenge you to a 'bug off' with my Wrangler any time; big cold beer to the winner.

At least the bugs that miss the screen don't usually get me, even with the top down.

BTW, it won't solve the bug problem, but it does wipe clean and work in the snow as a 'winter wiper'. You can get a Bosch Icon for the larger wiper blade, it's cheaper and works better than OEM.
