My V1 mount solution
My V1 mount solution
this will be in stages as Ive not that much time to do it all at once...so here is step one(Finding a good solution for the mount)
Your V1 should have come with a Visor mount, if you have it simply put it on backwards, so the clip faces towards the cabin not away from it.

in the same spot that my finger is located put some double sided tape...this is so it does not move when you reach up to press the mute button...(there is lots of movement once you push the clip part into the headliner)
This is what it will look like from the back:

And this is the final product:

you should be able to run the wiring into the head liner, down the a pillar channel, and then down the weather stripping of the door, into the Fuse box....this will be part two of a three part series, more to come later.....

Looks great so far! I know it's probably a lot smaller than it looks in the pic. This will be great for those that own a V1 and want to hard wire...personally I have a $100 'Cobra special'...don't think I could ever plunk down $400-$500 bucks for a radar detector. But hey, more power to ya man, and thanks for sharing your install pics!
Right now I have mine stuck on top of the center console using 3M velcro strips, and the wire running down to 12V all trashy like.....I really need to fix that!

Nice location btw. +reps
I recommend placing some foam where the clip touches the headliner backside to absorb some movement/noise (it also aims the V1 more level to the horizon as opposed to upwards). The V1 also sort of rattles with the visor mount with moderate bass/road vibrations too so some dampening material between the unit and mount works wonders.
Then again this was all on a GD3 so ymmv.

You could wire it to the maplights like Roger's Fit did in this thread --->https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...me-lights.html

im getting the V-1 in about a month, and ive been lookin around the car as to how to hardwire it, and its obvious the a-pillar is the only way =\ idk wat it looks like under the panel, but i dont want the wire to interfere with the direction of the deployment, should i be concnered about this...?
I just used some clearbra material and put it over the dots. You could probably use a small piece of tint also. Then suctioned my radar to that. That would also work for all radar detectors, as I know my Passport doesn't come with a visor clip.

if so, dont worry you'll be slapped with the a-pillar cover harder than by your V1 cord.
lol yeah its about the airbag, but your right, i should be more worried about the panel :P however, by any chance, would the cord defelect ro change the direction of the deployment? like would it pop down/out somewhere it shoudnt be?
will probably fly off its mount and knock you out.
lol yeathat will encourage me to mount my V-1 there :P but thats how its going to be now ;] 30 days tilli mount it GRRR wanna speed alreadi heh
well, i dont encourage speeding on public roads. my V1 is a conversation
piece on my hobby cars. i got it as an accessory cause it's just frikken cool
to watch the arrows.
i rarely use my old passport in my FitS or FitSW. only when i
go to new areas since some places have those 55mph zone
to 25mph in like 10yards and cop hiding behind a barn like
in those duke of hazard shows. so frikken cheezy i tell ya.

public roads you say? its more like a asphalt trail, single lane ALLL the way to the high way -.- no broken middle lanes, you'll be lucky to speed on these public roads. how ever, the side roads are emtpy ;] i speed on the side road to my house everytime, not like a maniac tho
