Edmund's - Seat too high?

This editor says the seating position is too high. What's next, the car is too fun?

The seating is positioned high for easy ingress/egress, and for better visibility.

Edmund's has been posting several reviews that contradict themselves lately. To me, their credibility stock is plummeting precipitously. Someone else said that they're starting to sound like another Consumer Reports. I can't agree more.

the problem is that the Fit has no competition.
it basically stomps it all. no thing in it's class is even close.
The Fit actually can compete with cars above it's class and beat
them also.
so basically they have nothing to bitch about but the small stuff.

trust me, the seating in the fit is alright, not too high at all given the huge ass windshield.
heck, in my echo hatch rs, the seating is EVEN higher.

I agree with Edmunds, the seat position is too high in the Fit.

Journalists HAVE to find fault. If they don't, they risk losing their "objectivity". People will start accusing them of being paid off by Honda to say nice things about the Fit, figuring that no car could be THAT good.

Now, why haven't they mentioned the "too far forward" headrests, if they need to complain about something?

I'm not gonna lie, it took quite some time for me to get used to the seating position. I used to own sports cars, and of course most of them have the seats very very low, so getting into the Fit felt almost like I was sitting in a minivan. The seats probably would be lower if the gas tank was'nt right underneath the driver, but then we would have to lose the magic seats.....no thanks! I love my fit just the way it is.

I hear that. I traded a Dodge Neon for the Fit ('02). I remember pulling up at a light next to another Neon the first night I drove the Fit. I was SHOCKED that I was looking down at the Neon driver. The car does sit high, but that's part of the way the car utilizes interior space. I'm loading for a band gig tonight, and I am marveling at how the car just seems to swallow up my gear, with room for more.

I particularly enjoy the high seating position in the Fit, myself.

It's a very good seat, with excellent visibility.

Now if you want a gripe, how about sun visors that are way too short?

Or maybe he just didn't like the seating position. I wish it sat slightly lower, or had some type of adjustment option like my Element.

On the GEs, the front of the car is even harder to see/judge vs. the GD because of the FA/FD Civic-like upward-sloped dashboard. If you set the seat any lower, this just adds to the challenge for the driver.

On the GDs, there's a benefit to lowering the seat height: you get much better visibility to the sides - the front quarter windows actually become functional once I swapped in my Recaro SRDs + Bride RO-type rails. Since this was already addressed on the stock GEs, I don't see much point to it.

On a related note, if you set the seat lower, the sun visors will become even more insufficient.

I have to agree. It's too high. I don't really care about how high I'm sitting actually. For me it makes the gas pedal uncomfortable because I have to bend my ankle so much because of the high sitting position.

I think about this often. I love driving my RX-8 and being low to the ground but I absolutely hate getting in and out of the damn thing. It's always a breath of fresh air hopping in and out of my wife's Fit.
