Problem.. any suggestions?
You should really take a step back and look at your life currently and make a plan, more than just moving south and going to college for criminology. There are a lot of things to consider and I know that you did the math because you said that you did. Are you going to be paying yourself though college along with your rent, car payment, insurance, food, etc.? That is a lot to try to take on fresh out of high school by yourself. Like it was said before, the Fit is just an object. If you need to sell, then that is what you need to do. You may get lucky and find a decent paying job, apply for college grants or you could join the Military, if you qualify. You should have options, but definately have a plan. Again, don't make yourself miserable for something like a car. You can always buy another one later if you have to.

That's good that you will be getting at least some help with the college. Lol, $2500 a month for an apartment is insane. That would rent you a large house here in South Carolina. So, you looking at spending $30,000 a year for the apartment, $1200-$2000 a year for food, est. $1000-$5000 plus a year on tuition, $600-$1800 plus a year for electricity and water/ sewage, etc, etc, etc. With just those things you are close to $40,000 net. That doesn't figure in clothes, cable/ satelite, A LIFE, etc. You will need to make $45,000-$50,000 to net $40,000 after taxes, social security, medicaid, etc. That means you will have to make over $20 an hour @ 40+ hours a week and try to make time for part-time schooling because it is unlikely that you will be able to work and go to school full time and keep your sanity. I don't see a car payment, insurance and taxes fitting in here.
What are you complaining about? Sleep in the fit! I had to live in my Thunderbird for a few weeks before I got my gig with Allstate Insurance. Trust me, the Fit is twice as good a car to sleep/live in than my old t-bird. I actually took this into consideration before buying it. It can be alot of fun if you are rugged and low maintainence and aren't obsessed with creature comforts. BTW $2500 a month for rent makes me go WTF! That is pissing perfectly good money away. $2500 a month in Illinois away from chicago would pay your monthly payments on a $320,000 Mortgage.

LOL...I have a friend who recently had to live out of his car for a few weeks. A Pontiac G5 coupe.
When I showed him the Fit with the seats folded down, the first thing he said was "I bet you could sleep pretty comfortably back there..."

i'm in a college town, and a 1 bedroom place is only about $800.
You're town is expensive, but even so, I would try to look around. maybe get a roommate.
