Question yet another floormat thread (carpet only)

I've searched, and found many floormat discussions, but mainly I only found info about All-weather/weathertech).

I couldn't find much on carpet mat options other then reports that the OEM ones are cheap and flimsy and go to target and find something else.

Can anyone suggest recommendations for good carpet floor mats?

(please no allweather mats/weathertech suggestions)

I've been looking at these. Don't know how good they are. They look better than the Honda mats I bought with the car but I don't know the company.

The Honda carpet mats are custom-fit for the shapes of the footwells. I don't think you are going to find what I would consider an acceptible fit with any of the generic ones.

I did find that there was a matted-down spot where my right heel rests, within a few months. That is probably common to all carpet mats.

I dunno; I just don't get it, this business of spending $75-150-$200+ for floor mats! Plus it's been my long experience that the carpet mats gather dust, mositure from rain and snow, dirt, and are a b***h to keep clean!!
You can get inexpensive rubber or vinyl mats from places like Pep Boys, Auto Zone, or WalMart in all different levels of thickness, and easily cut them yourself to exact specifications (they're designed for this) for an excellent fit for the Fit!!

Plus they clean up 100 times better than the carpet ones; just flip them out of the car, run some high pressure hosing over them, and your done! -And they'll protect your OEM flooring every bit as well as $150 mats will too!

Whatsa big deal with all this expensive crap, just to get dirt from your shoes onto them??? It all strikes me as being not just a little obsessive..? (Or anal, maybe?)

Chazzlee, maybe someone somewhere out there just happens to prefer having carpet over vinyl under their feet. There is definitely a different feel under your shoes, so to each his own man. I would only call one poster on this thread 'anal', and its not anyone who is giving suggestions to the original question.

ps, Those mugen mats look sweet. I got the standard honda carpeted mats and they're great, too.

Sorry. I wasn't talking so much about the mat type, only about the huge expense some people are willing to spend on them...
But, of course, TEHO...
(And I guess I get 'anal' about what I see as wasted $$, but hell, it ain't my $$ after all anyway...)

Ha. Don't get me wrong, i think $160 for floor mats is ridiculous.

But for some reason it didn't stop me from buying them.
