My Locks Wistle! Bad Solenoid?

I have it programmed where it locks when I go above 10 mph. The funny thing is that when I push the lock button it sounds normal. It only happens when the car locks itself. I'll have it taken care of at next oil change at dealer. Should be under warranty (just over 15000 mi).

I am going to *bump* this thread, as it's happening to me too, and I've NEVER had this happen on another car before. Very maddening. Happens mostly when it's cold. Anyone else experience this or get it repaired?

I believe mine is the front passenger's door.

Mine do the same thing, but not all the time. It's like *lock* *squeak*.

Exactly. And it only seems to happen when accelerating the car while the automatic door locks are activating?

My GD does this intermittently as well. I'm probably going to have to put up with it until the thing finally croaks. Can't rationalize replacing it out of warranty because of a little squeak.

haha i totally forgot about this post. I eventually did bring it to the dealer and not surprisingly they said, "sorry sir we cannot replicate the sound. Since your locks are in perfect working order, we cannot replace it. As cars age, they make strange sounds."

Really why did I even bother driving there. It's fustrating because it still happens! And I really HATE it when they dumb down their explanations like I'm a sorority girl...like I'm supposed to put up with that sound because of "normal wear and tear".

lol and only 3 people have this problem apparently. As annoying as it is, I'm just gonna accept it. C'est la vie.

Happens to me too, I just ignore it. If it goes out under warranty, then I'll get it fixed.

Mine is noisy as well. I would attempt to get it fixed under warranty as soon as possible if the dealer will do it, then again when the next one does it. I see many lock actuators replaced at my dealership. I've already ordered mine.

I've also disabled the auto locking to preserve the actuators.

My front passenger side's been doing this lately as well. Good luck waiting for it to break, my 2000 civic had the same noise on the same side every winter and the locks worked perfectly fine to the day traded it in.

My rear hatch solenoid makes a nice whining sound, especially when cold. I'm not too worried about it. Tried to lube it with some lithium grease, didn't really work out. A replacement is almost $100.

I think for the next week or so I'll record the audio in my car of starting off and see if I can catch the noise. It really, really sounds like something's on the way out, and with all the other random little things that are wrong with my fit (Squeaky fender panel, bad laminate on the inside of the glass on my front corner window, slow leak in my rear passenger tire) it's just another weird little annoyance I should get fixed.

I've just notice it happening to mine when the weather started getting cold this winter.
I'll take in to the dealership when I have time. Its too intermittent to the point where I just deal with it when it happens.
My guess is the actuators are just stiff from the cold.

One of mine emits a little 'eep' when unlocking sometimes. I'm inclined to think this is normal and not a warranty item (at least until it quits working, which will probably be at 40,000 miles).

I'm considering disabling the auto locking feature. It seems like unnecessary wear and tear on the mechanisms. At first I thought it was cool, but what exactly are we protecting ourselves from?

Interestingly, the 2000 volvo I had made the exact opposite claim for safety where its manual recommended not locking doors when you're inside as this would delay emergency workers from helping you if needed.

I remember my parents saying, "Kids, lock your doors," when we passed through some shady neighborhood. Even then I thought it was bogus.
