26 below zero last night

It was 26 below zero (58 degrees below freezing!) last night here and the fit fired right up in the morning. After a prolonged warm up she drove just fine. I don't know how cold it was if you factor in the wind chill.

Having been blessed with a somewhat heated garage for the last 23 years, it's pleasing to hear that a Fit will fire up at that temperature. Gotta believe that the new, energy saving low-viscosity oils make cranking easier, and the electronic ignition makes a stronger spark.
When last I let things sit out, on a -10* morning, I had a Beetle that started and a Scirocco that didn't...

I'm cleaning out the garage as well to get both the Fit and Ridgeline in it. we have sooo much stuff in there as far as storage - Moved into my grandmother's house... alot of stuff is STILL here! There's one heater vent in the garage so while it does get below freezing out there, it's not sub zero. So far with the negative temps we've had, I've had no issue starting the Fit when it's left outside.

My Dad's VW Rabbit Diesel Pickup wouldn't start if the engine got below 15(F) We'd leave a shop lamp with a 60W bulb in it, in the engine bay on cold nights... just had to remember to take it out

Its a high of about 6 here today and my car warms up fine. The cold engine light goes off after maybe 2-3 mins and the air seems to be warm, although i usually have my air set to my defroster and my feet but i do feel the need to cut it back after 10ish mins so of driving.

Complete concurrence. Highs have been in the negatives here in Mn, but I have no issues getting warm in my car.

$53.24

I ordered a bunch of other stuff, so I don't know how much with shipping, but probably all said and done less than $60. I'm going to install mine, then my father is going to pay me to install his as well.

There's an old thread on here that says if you use it for 90 minutes prior to driving in 40F weather, it'll get the block warm enough to turn the cold lamp off in 15 seconds.

Yes, it gets cold here, and I have to park in the driveway because I have no garage in the winter (motorcycle needs to live somewhere when it's cold). Also because I hate getting into a cold car in the morning, and I don't want to let it idle.

Brrrr! -32º C today, and one stab on the remote, and she fired right up. We don't plug it in, and never have with the old Civic either. I have no doubts winter is tough on cars, but I have had many high mileage cars that have been just fine right down to these extremes.

I don't know how you do it up there.

Cheers.

It seems that the "global warming" folks have changed their name to "climate Change" in light of such phenomena. A google search showed me the frost wave has also plagued Europe and India where it's attributed to at least 100 deaths in each continent.

We have almost 100" inches of snow in MA, my battery did die on our first sub-zero day, but it's been fine. I let it sit in the driveway for a bit, and that first upshift is always slot, but after that she's usually good to go.

We have some -30 to -40 cel days here in Ottawa. Fit fires up fine. Chokes sometimes......but never not started. I usually let the car run for a good 15 minutes before setting off. No heat issues or anything. However......mpg goes down the crapper in the extreme cold

Yeah we've been having terribly cold days in Southern Ontario as well the poor lil Fit takes a bit to get going but does always start. I do a 5 min warm up but after reading this thread might let 'er warm up even more next time.
