For me this has been the most surprising thing about the Fit. It takes a little bit to get to 85 mph or 90 mph but like you say, it will hang out at those speeds all day long with no problems. The engine is turning higher rpm's than I would like which would be cured with a tall sixth gear, but even without it there is no problem going fast in this car. Very stable at high speeds.

I'm pretty anal about keeping my tires inflated to 33 psi, which is the recommended level. I check them every week, or when there is an extreme temperature change. If you're going to drive at high speeds for extended periods of time I can't recommend enough to make sure the tires are inflated to factory specs. A blowout at 90 mph in a little car like the Fit would be ugly.

I found that my fit, even in stock trim (stock wheels, tires, alignment, suspension, brakes) was completely stable at that speed. Now with lightweight 15x7 wheels, and extremely sticky tires, mugen sport suspension, and -1º camber, I find that it's a bit more stable.
The Fuel Cutoff is above Redline on the Fit but I'm sure the fit is Electronically controlled to not go over a certain speed. This is the way it was on my altima. My 3.5SE was limited to 142mph and the 3.5SL (same engine/trans/etc...) was limited to 117mph(because of the tires and suspension) Unfortunately for SL owners, just swapping out tires and suspension wouldn't change the Electronically controlled limit.

SideNote:, I don't think I was ever over 85 in the altima. I was just a member of the forum and I DO NOT condone testing what the speed limiter is on a car... especially not around me or my wife and I'll hate you for life if its done around my son. (He's 3)
