Help... Sport Rear Bumper Replacement

I backed up, hit the garage and damaged the rear bumper tonight (How stupid I was!!!)

Anyone replaced sport rear bumper before? Is it a DIY project? Any step by step guide? I have to check out how much it cost. Where would be a good place to order?

Thanks in advance.

(I don't think I can sleep tonight)

I would check with bernardi parts. Check out part number 04715-TK6-A91ZZ for $149. The two issues to deal with will most likely be shipping and finding someone to paint it up.

Installation is the easy part don't even worry about that. I too have a scrape on my rear bumper and a small dime sized deformation. I dont even know what to tell you. At least $500 if you pay cash and get a good deal on painting. Probably closer to $700. You wont have a chance in hell of getting one from a junkyard, they will be gone before they even get listed. you will probably have to order one from a dealer then have a shop paint it for you. Good luck.

I think theres 4 allen screws when you open the hatch, close to the bumper. Then the rest should just be pop out tabs surrounding underneath the edge of the bumper.

The instructions for installing the Mugen rear spoiler tell you how to remove the bumper as well (it needs to come off to attach the spoiler): http://www.bernardiparts.com/Images/...r_AII41059.pdf

I had mine replaced at a body shop $500, paint and all. They could have repaired it for $350, but I choose to replace it. In hindsight I should have had it repaired and saved the bucks.

I am going to start call around for quote painting the rear bumper which I am going to order. What would a reasonable price be before tax for painting?

Part cost $203 from dealer. Much cheaper than the cost + shipped price ordering from Bernardi $328. A body shop will paint it for $312. Total $515 tax included. I need to take the old one off and put the new one on (The shop will charge 1.8 hours if they do it. But no thanks)

Just a comment.
If your car is pretty new, the paint on the rear new bumper will match the rest of the car. Otherwise, you might get 2 tone paint.

If a repair shop installs and paints your bumper for you, they will match the color (hopefully).

Put the $500 mistake in the Fit last night. Tomorrow will drop it off to body shop for color matching. Hopefully will get the new painted bumper cover back by next week. Just can't wait.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good body shop in Los Angeles that can replace a damaged rear bumper on a practically virgin new Fit Sport? (2012 Fit Sport - Alabaster Silver - 1,500 miles) My wife popped our new car's cherry today by accidentally backing into a dumpster. Thanks in advance for your help!
