Honda's e-Shop, are they insane????

Got an email from my dealer concerning a Honda e-Shop where I could get all kinda "good deals" on Honda accessories....
One example of their friggin' insane prices on the items listed there is: $38 for door edge moulding; $88 to have it "installed"!!!
Sheeeesh! -I can buy this stuff from an auto shop for about $5 and install it in 5 minutes!! -Just what kind of suckas do they think we are?
They are so stoopid, IMO; don't they realize that this kind of crap is what keeps people from going back to their d(st)ealers if they can at all possibly avoid it???????????

(Hey, maybe they don't want us returning as repeat customers? -Maybe once they sell us the car (an admittedly good one tho), they become tired of us and never want to see us again??)

Or they have the american consumer pegged more accurately than you think.

But it's OEM door edge molding, and their techs are highly trained.

I dont condone dealership labor rates on some things, but just so you know the door edge guards are custom molded to the specific door and model and the installation includes them shaving down the epoxy that is in the way of the guard and then they use touchup paint to paint over the different colored epoxy then the guard is installed - still seems a little high on labor to me, but the part price is in line with what you get, they match perfectly!!!

Really? Well, I can get the same guaranteed good looking results just by buying the $5 door-edge molding strips from Pep Boyz and easily pushing them onto my doors...!
Hey, transparent (or black) door-edge molding strips all just look like door edge molding strips, and who cares what kind of epoxy changes are underneath them? (Sounds sorta anal to me..?)

And as far as "custom molding" goes, the $5 stuff is flexible as all hell; why in the word would you need "custom molding" for flexible vinyl strips that bend to the door edge contours automatically anyway?

But geez, I'm always surprised that whenever anyone around here criticizes a Honda dealership's practice, there's always someone so quick to jump in and defend the 'poor innocent' dealer! So one can't help but wonder, -do we have a lot of Honda shills working this site?

(Or is it really just naive, keep-the-Honda-Faith consumers?)

Everyone knows all dealer accessories are overpriced! Whether its Honda or Ford or Subaru Etc. Buy the $5 stuff and put it on ur car if you dont want to pay for the dealer accessory. But I guarantee the OEM part will look cleaner.

I am enjoying my $168 all weather Fit floormats. I guess the install for these was pretty rough too...
