2010 Fit Seat Rocking Fix

This is an overall Honda issue - could be design, could be assembly. But my Japanese built 99 CRVhad this problem, my Canadian built 04 Civic had it, and my Alabama built 07 Odyssey has it. Those bolts loosen up - I did the same thing as you guys to my Civic (but the Ody is simply inaccessible) and it fixed it, although I had to do it every 6 months or so.

Could this be Honda's "gas pedal"?

Search HondaSUV.com, Odyclub.com, etc and you will find owners of all Honda products complaining about this.

Can someone take pics of where the bolts are located....I went outside but maybe I'm having a brain fart because I can't seem to see/get to any.

There are plastic covers over them. Just get a screwdriver under each and pop them out to expose the bolt.

Thank you...got the covers off...my two front bolts were loose. Not hand loose but needed proper torquing.

Anyways--Of course, I broke one of my covers...the left one. Broke all 3 freaking tabs. I'm not sure how that happened. Apparently, I'm he-woman. Anyways, I'll order another one but just wanted to chime in that I had 2 front loose bolts.

I've been having a sort of popping during certain movements/speeds but we will see if this fixes it.

Yeah, those covers can be a little finicky. I had trouble getting one of the rear ones back on but I took it slow and managed to do it without damaging it. I don't imagine the replacement will set you back much.

Yea--my fronts went on fine but the backs were PITAs...oh well, yeah I'll pick one up sometime.

both my driver and passenger seats were loose, tightened them all up today!

Hahaha i bought my fit last weekend and told my wife almost immediatley there was a problem with the seat. Sure enough she did not believe it but now i see this, so i went out 10 min ago and tightened up the bolts. Frt bolt by the console was loose. This is my first honda and im a little peeved! seriously , loose seat bolts come on honda!!!! A recall is def in order here.

2009 Fit Sport MT, checked the seat bolts and drivers RF bolt was loose. More than finger tight, but not snugged all the way up. 14mm wrench fixed that...

Yep, went out and checked the bolts.

Sure enough the drivers seat RF was not tight. The LF was fine, and passenger seat was good.

Holy cow this is crazy. Has anyone completely removed any of the bolts, I'm curious if Honda used any kind of thread lock compound on the threads of the bolts, my older Hondas all had this on the seat/floor mounting bolts.

I'll be checking mine out later, and if they're loose I'll take a closer look.

I removed both of my loose bolts and there is no thread locker. Thread locker would not have been helpful because they clearly were never properly torqued. Just for grins, I did use threadlocker before properly torquing mine.

We purchased our first Honda, a Fit in December. It's a 2010. I love it but have noticed the seatback on the right side when turning has some play almost like you can feel the springs in a mattress. We took it for the first oil change and of course they found nothing. The service manager actually told me that the seats in the Fit are not as strong as the Accord. This is not something you want to hear. I will be going to pick up my car, take it for a test drive with them this afternoon. My husband and I both feel the seat have some play in the seatback. I'm sure this will be an ongoing battle. My next call will be to Honda and then will post a complaint on the NHTSA website which I recommend if anyone else is having a problem that is where you go so they can launch a recall. Flimsy seatback have caused many severe injuries in accidents.

Why not just have your husband check to see if the bolts are loose. It should only take less than 5 minutes. Dealers most likely have no idea about the bolts and I generally don't trust them anyways.

The flimsy seatback on the fit is by design, and it is part of the active headrest system to protect you if you are rear-ended. If you are getting play in the seat back you should definitely pop off the plastic covers on the front seats and make sure the bolts are all tight.

Dealers are generally moronic and will probably order you a new seat before finding the loose bolts.

I posted another thread about this issue and was directed here.
Just got finished checking my 2010 Sport, and yes, both the inboard front rail bolts were quite loose.
Has anybody heard back from Honda and/or the NHTSA? Certainly seems to have the makings of a recall.

I filed a compliant with NHTSA also, and I'd encourage everyone who's experienced this loose bolt situation to do the same. I can't help but think that it's a safety issue - those loose bolts might very well shear in a high-g impact.

Have a 2010 fit, rear pass side seat had a bolt loosen centre bolt, as rear seats r split. Removed bolt applied locknut & reinstalled, no more problem.
