Oil question

My Fit has 4,000 miles with 50% on the minder. What I am curious to know is, right now my car is running maybe about half a quart low and who knows what it will be by the time I make it to 15%. Is it ok to add regular dino oil to the break in oil or do they sell break in oil?

It's OK to add dino or synth. Just use the recommended viscosity 5W20.

Mine burns a quart between oil changes. I'll need my third oil change in a month or two, and I've already added about half a quart and it's now at the bottom mark on the dipstick. So, yes, keep an eye on it, and be certain to add oil as necessary.

How did you break your Fit in? I've got 75K on mine, never burned any oil.

I broke it in gently, varying the revs, and continue to be kind to it. I test drove it for 7 miles with 4 miles on the odometer and bought it at 11, and so I doubt the car's been the victim of abuse. Others have reported similar oil consumption, and so I'm not overly concerned.

At what mileage did you do your first oil change, and what oil brand/viscosity do you use now?

My first oil change was at 20% on the meter and somewhere around 10,000 miles on the odometer. My second change was also at 20% and somewhere around 20,000 miles (sorry, I don't have the invoices at hand). I'm at about 28K now. I'm not certain what brand/viscosity the Honda dealership is using when they change my oil, but I hope for the best.
