Carpet next to the gas pedal is all worn out (pics)

So i drive this thing mainly on highway and it has the carpet all warn out already.. has this happened to anyone else?

i noticed it today when i vacuumed the inside of the car.

i driven the car for a little over 8k miles so far, got it around November of 2009. I mainly drive with flipflops on or sperry and birkenstock shoes on.. its not like iam using GOLF shoes to drive this car.... a few times i have driven the car using Formal shoes.

heres some pics:

Well, It's obvious that whatever you wear on your feet, you rest to edge of your foot on the carpet. Doesn't change the fact that the stock carpeting is a cheap piece of you-know-what.

I got my car with 13k on the clock, and the previous owner did a number on the section above and to the side of the dead pedal. Looks like that, but worse. Not sure what I'm going to do about it, but I haven't had a car where this was a problem. Weight savings must have played such a huge role in the design of this car, that the carpets are paper thin.

i took my fit to the dealer when it got a hole in the carpet, they will agrue with you a little. then they will take a few pics, they send it to honda and honda will tell them they can or cant fix it. but i got mine fixed although the hole on mine was closer to the driver seat then the gas pedal and im not sure how a hole got there because my feet never touch that spot.

I wonder if there is a carpet repair kit out there that would hold up. Maybe a good idea is to repair it, and then cover the susceptible parts with clear plastic.

Here is one of the kits: Carpet Repair Kit - Repair Burns, Damage on Your Auto, Home, Office Carpet

WTH? How come u have 3 pedals instead of 2??? Did Honda forgot to put the far left one on mine??? lol j/k I had the same experience with my old GS-R and I glued over with some thin rubber/plastic that looks like what we have under the carpet floor mat And it worked pretty well. I hope I still have some pics of it...

you crack me up that reminds me of the time when i was on this mustang forum and someone looked at my car like "whats that infront of your radiator?" and then another member immediately replies "thats an intercooler"

yeah.. i think iam going to leave the carpet how it is.. i never saw this problem before... untill i owned this fit, i wish the made carpet mats that would cover it.

wow if that happens again I'd glue a piece of black rubber/plastic there.

Do you have webbed feet or waddle like a duck?

From reading this forum, I knew before I purchased that the carpet in The Fit was crap. Since "carpet quality" isn't something I focus on most of the time with my vehicle I didn't care. BUT I must say, Honda did really go cheap on the carpet. I think most of the things in reach and view in The Fit have above average fit and finish...but Honda should pay ME for having that carpet in my car.
