Has anyone successfully removed/replaced a mirror cap? I am looking to replace my TW caps with unpainted base model ones, but first I need to figure out how to do it. In the diagram below (from Bernardi), it looks like the cap snaps on it 2-3 places, and it also looks like there's a screwhole in the middle. I can't see any screws in the diagram that match up with it, though.

Should it just unclip with the right amount of pressure on the outside, or do I have to unmount and disassemble the entire assembly just to get the cap off?

 

the cap unclips off but you need to take off you mirror first.
then you can get to the clips.
