Question Cold Air Intake for California

I queried (searched) for information on California legal CAI on this forum with no joy.
I've searched on the internet and found CAI and found lots, however, some sites will say "Not California Legal" but then I find the exact same product on another site an it states nothing.
I guess it's buyer beware.

Does anyone in freaksville know of a system that is be acceptable under our (California) EPA guide lines?

TIA

According to that same site, Injen has an exemption (supposedly, you can use Injen CAIs).

Verified: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php (search "Honda Fit", though it lists Cyborg Intake, so it could be a SRI)

That list gives SP1512 for the Injen part, which doesn't show up on Injen's site... but SP1512P does, though it doesn't say what exactly it is other than "filter." Some more searching comes up with what looks like a CAI.

K&N does not have CARB Exempt on all their Typhoon SRIs. My Element Typhoon has a CARB Exempt sticker and status. The Fit Typhoon does not. Beware of Injens marketing. They say that all their intakes have CARB exemption or pending exemption. I think that more models are pending than issued.

K&N 69-1017TTK fits the following:
2010 HONDA FIT 1.5L L4 F/I - All Street Legal In All States: No

This intake system is not legal for street use in the following states:

Arizona, California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington

This intake system is legal for street use in most states. However, it is not legal for street use in California and the above states that have adopted California Emissions Standards under Section 177 of the Federal Clean Air Act of 1970. Intake systems are subject to governmental regulation in California and certain other states adopting the emission standards of the California Air Resources Board. In order for an intake system to be legal on a specific vehicle in California and the other adopting states, the part number must receive a CARB Executive Order (EO) number. This number makes the part legal for use only on specific years, makes and models of vehicles. A decal with CARB EO number for these parts must be displayed in the engine bay to satisfy smog inspection requirements.

All K&N 57 series intakes for North American vehicles have received CARB EO numbers and are street legal in all 50 states.

Some intake systems we sell beginning with the prefixes 63-, 69-, 77, & RK- are not legal for use in California and other states adopting CARB emission standards. Please check our website for the specific CARB status of each intake system we sell for a specific vehicle

What are the performance gains of a CAI over a SRI? Is it just a 1 or 2 hp gain? CAI has the risk of hydrolock.

What is the part number?
I've been on Injen's site and they sell nothing for FIT's other then the 2007 model.

The debate CAI vs SRI is intriguing, does the CAi have to be installed near the ground?

i don't think any of the intakes has a performance gain over the other ones...

not only that but CAI are not compatible with automatics because the size of the transmission won't allow for the CAI, so having an automatic, your only choice is something like the SRI... so technically SRI > CAI

you would need the literally submerge it to hyrdrolock

try finding a turbo system that has an intake at a better location then a CAI... you will be lucky to just find one located in the CAI area... but most likely its at a worst location like right behind the fog light.

the fits CAI location is not really bad.. its protected from water with that huge piece of plastic that (i think is there too) protect the battery and fuse box from water.
