since the Insight has integrated blinkers in the door mirrors, i was thinking about picking up a set for the Fit, the appear the same in shape and size, but am not sure if the mirror plug in the Fit already has the wiring set up for the blinkers, i noticed that JDM Fits "DO" come with the Blinker Mirrors....anyone done this mod or even noticed?

 

There is an "ebay" part for sale that replaces the USDM housing cover with one that has a blinker, and must be wired up rather extensively, and has fitment problems. Otherwise, some people have paid for and installed the JDM ones.

It would be interesting if they fit. I'd love a pair.

 

Stock USDM FIT - GE8 does not have wiring for the side mirror blinkers. You have to pull a pair of wires from each side and connect to turn signals near fuse box under the dash. The 10-11 Honda Insight mirror covers with blinkers should fit on 09-11 Honda FIT - GE8.

 

thanks guys...now i know not to buy the 2010 insight mirrors, just because the simple fact that i don't want to mess with the wiring. i was under the impression that the plug for the electric motor had the blinkers already wired in. i saw that it is a multi pin connector so i just thought it might work.

 

You would think that they would plug and play if they lookthe sameand Honda should of put them on the fit

 

i know right...the part that bolts to the door isn't the same, but the mirror housing itself is identical to shape and size. i own a 2010 insight and 2010 fit sport...wish i had the same blinker housings on the fit. figured that it could just unbolt on the hinge.

Damn those are nice. Did you paint the mirrors white or did they come like that?

 

I got the same ones as Black3sr. $100 bucks. It is a b*tch to wire up but they look and function great. fitment is somewhat good and it comes painted. i wired the blue lights up to a separate switch just for fun. lol. i also installed a set of blue convex winker mirrors at the same time. another pain install.

Where did you get the convex mirrors? Ebay? You wired them into the winkers inside the mirror housing? They do look nice. Maybe I could add them to mine.

Do you run with the blue ones on? Would be nice to see a video of both of them on. The blue on and winker flashing .

I'm super Jelly. How bad was the wiring?

 

It is not easy yet not that hard. I spent a couple of mornings doing them.

A bit of a challenge to get the new covers to snap on. That last clip is tough.

Pulling wires through the rubber from door to pillar was doable.

My only screw up was connecting to existing wires in fuse box. I was so concerned I was going into the right wires I ended up connecting left to right and viceversa. It sure looked confusing when I tested them.
