Hmmmmm...drivers side seat frame...can feel it through cushion

I've been having some hip pain after driving for about an hour lately and could not figure out why...seems to have popped up after I had the center arm console installed but that could just be a coincidence...

If I slide my hand down next to my hip there is a metal part of the seat frame that seems to be very thinly padded....I think this is what is causing the discomfort I am feeling.....I'm a regular sized person at 5'11 about 190 so I think I'm not putting too much weight on the seat to cause this to happen...

Has anyone else run into this? Trying to think what I can do to alleviate this because right now it is not a good situation.

Feel your seat on the right side about 1/2-3/4 back and you should feel what I am talking about.......wondering if the padding shifted or slipped off or what because I don't remember having this issue with my wife's Fit or earlier when I first bought the car

Unhappy

Did you ever manage to sort this out? I've just got a 2014 Jazz Si and the sides of the front seat are really causing me a bruised hip on both sides, so much so that it is painful to sleep. I absolutely love the car but after my first long journey in it recently, I felt deflated. I'm only a 34" waist! It's definately car specific because I drive Fords, Vauxhalls and Skodas at work for decent lengths in a day and all are very comfortable.

Since this original post is 13 years old I doubt you're going to get a reply from the original poster.
I think if you find an automotive upholstery shop near your location in London, they should be able to re-pad your seat, or at least add more padding to what you already have to help alleviate your problem.

Good luck with the fix.

Hi Dan.

yes, don't really expect an answer from them but thought I ought to try a pre-existing thread I could find first, with the hope that bumping it up might draw some attention anyway. Have considered an upholsterer, but it is actually two metal parts that are literally digging into my mid-thigh/hips that are a part of the bucket seat. As I said, only a 34" waist so a shame, but I suppose they are aimed at smaller Japanese people really.

The way I see it, the Fit seats are basically a metal frame that is then covered with padding and then a seat cover is installed over the top. Over time, getting in and out of the car the padding gets compressed down and then will shift over the framework. regardless of the weight of the driver, plopping down onto the seat as you get into the car over a period of 10+ years for gen 2 Fits/ Jazz, the obvious happens. I still think a qualified auto upholsterer can remove the seat cover and then replace damaged padding and add additional padding to make your seat more comfortable for you.
