Windshield Issues in aftermath of recall

So when I took my 09 Fit Sport in for the motion spring recall, the techs accidentally cracked my windshield when they were popping the cowling back on. The service department, after "not noticing" the crack when I picked up the car, generously agreed to replace the windshield gratis. Two weeks later, I noticed that the small corner piece at the base of the passenger side was missing or never attached. Now the service rep has called me and told me that I need to drop my car off and leave it for 3-4 hours since the glass repair folks think the windshield will have to come back out to replace this piece.

My question is this-it looks like the piece just snaps on top or minimally wraps underneath the windshield. Does it really have to come out to put this little piece back on? Also, take a look at the position of my wiper. It's a replacement wiper (Trico, I think). If this is a piece that is superficial, could the wiper have knocked it loose? Looks like it would be at least flush with where the molding would run along the edge of the windshield...

picture?

Either way, glass guys are good at what they do, so I'd just let 'em deal with it. Just look it over carefully when you pick it up.

Er, did post a pic. Don't know why it wouldn't be working. My main concern is I want to make sure they aren't misunderstanding what needs replacing and secondary is giving up my car again.

If its a reputable dealership they should have loaner cars. Ask if they have one available for you, or if they can have someone give you a ride to work and pick you back up when you need to get your car.

Like I said, my main concern is I am just wondering if they are correct in the time/procedure to replace the part. Logistics is NOT my primary bother with this. It IS a bother though b/c I have a long commute and leave before the dealer opens. But what I'm saying is that at a glance, this part looks like something that should just snap on. I'll have to go take a look at the driver's side piece and see if it can be easily removed. I'm just trying to make sure wires aren't crossed here.

considering glass folks are not always present they put a buffer in time. just let the dealer have the car for most of the day.

even for a brake pad replacement i just dropped off the car in the am, picked it up during lunch. no biggie.

I get you... but if you posted a pic we'd know the exact part you are talking about. A lot of folks would know for sure if it's something you can pick up for 5 bucks and snap back on yourself.
