Glad to see your ok, car took the hit like a champ....lol to the guy that said in the phillipines this is fixable. Here in the states people fixed cars like this too, even worse than this!! Thing is its going to have a salvage title and it's going to be worth significantly less. Seen a crab walking car lately? I see them here all the time, it's cheaper for the insurance company to pay it off than fix it and then rape you on the premium

Yeah I know trade in value would be nothing after being in an accident. I was sadly thrilled to see her go. I just needed a new car and with no downpayment cash, I needed my insurance company to deliver for me. They did. "whew". I am lucky in a lot if ways. Insurance, safety of car, my work was understanding. Even the guy I hit was a gentleman to me. The cop who fined me was polite and the medical staff were classy.

i'm on the same shore with the phillipines... in indonesia, this kind of crash will just be repaired and back to the original owner in 3-4 weeks.... not that i like it, but that's the insurance system here... so my best policy: don't crash! when i do crash my car, it will get repaired, and not long after that, sold, and bought another one...

back to topic, i'm a bit in awe on how your car suffer only those kind of damages from a 60+mph collision... i bet that you were able to slow down considerably right before the collision... still.. must be shocking and glad you survived... i do hope the 80yo guy also survives scratch-free..

That old guy came to my bedside at the hospital Ndxsaid he was fine. He was cool and calm and I told him that I was sorry I ruined his van and his day. We shook hands and he seemed concerned for me because I was the guy wearing the neckbrace. I told him it takes a big man to look me in the eye and show me kindness after being crashed into. He was a gentleman to me. Classy.

He was going 60, but the other guy was probably going 45 mph making it a 15mph impact.

How the heck is that totaled, my recent accident looked way worse and was not a total loss. Granted I didn't have mugen parts but I don't think that would make up the difference, my cars damage was $7000. It would have taken $11000 to total it, since yours was an 09 as mine was I would assume the same. I seriously don't see $11000 worth of damage on that car.

And here is the car after they remove all the damaged parts from the front end.

Firstly, different appraisers.

Secondly, it looks like the OPs frame could be bent, while yours might not be.

My frame wasn't bent you are correct but there is a lot on his that isn't damaged that was on mine. I am simply saying his damage does not appear to be around $11k worth of damage, which is approximately 80% of the average value of an 09 Fit sport. I don't see frame damage counting for $4k of damage but maybe I am off.

Clearly, we are making "estimates" based on a few pictures. I'm not an appraiser, so that's all I can say about the mmatter.

Considering the slo-mo offset frontal crash videos by the IIHS this Fit doesn't look that bad for that crashing at that speed. I bet it'll be fixed and sold in Oregon or some other state that doesn't really have strict reconstruction standards. When I was shopping for a used Fit about half of em were "rebranded / reconstructed" titles or if they were clean they cost about as much as a new Fit. Which is why I bought a new one...
