Do TPMS need to be replaced when putting new tires on?

Finally replacing the Dunlops at 46K and some change on my wife's 2010 Fit Sport. I know it is not a well liked tire here but she likes them and they get great mpg and 46K on any oem tire is pretty good.

Having the dealer replace the tires and they didn't mention anything about sensors in price...just tires and mount and balance for 563. (40 dollar mail in rebate so that helps)

Have never had TPMS before so not sure if they need to be replaced as well....have heard yes and no, only if bad need to be replaced

Thanks

IIRC, the expected life of the sensor battery is something like 5 or 8 years. If you were approaching that age, it might make sense to go ahead an replace the sensors then to make sure you don't damage the tire when you'd have to pop it back off to get at the dead sensor.

At only a year old, you should be fine.

Ok thanks....... I was under the impression that they needed to be repaced at tire change time. I guess that is only if they break them

After a certain point, it might make sense. On a 1-2 year old car, preventative replacement of a fairly easy to access, somewhat expensive, non-critical system doesn't make a lot of sense.
