Junk Yard Finds and more 5 lug prep

When I went to the junkyard I found a newer than mine ge8. Poor thing. The seats were trash and it was smashed up front so I grabbed a bunch of goodies off it. All 4 door panels, all the door window plastics and other little things not worth mentioning.

New door panels. Mine were pink from the sun.

Here I am working on the torsion bar from the CRZ. Bushings get removed for some polys and there was so spots that need the metal worked a bit. Shes now ready for sand blasting and powder coating.

crz torsion bar

k24 prep

Transmission still needs to be cleaned but eventually the case will get powder coated. I realized I don't actually have everything I need and now have two separate orders with Honda for nuts, bolts and misc stuff. Nothing exciting.

304 Stainless flange. I have a box of 304 stainless joints and 5 foot tube sections coming in to start setting up the header design.

It's looking really good!
I wanted to ask about your stainless exhaust flange there. It's bolting up to cast aluminum, yeah?
Is that kind of set up commonplace?

There will be a metal gasket between them but otherwise yes that is normal for performance based applications.

The rotors sit too far back and hit the caliper bracket.

The setup is fit knuckle, fit bearing, cr-z spindle, cr-z calipers, cr-z pads and cr-z rotors.
The cr-z has a wide stance and it gets that from the knuckle. I ordered the spindles new from Honda and never had the cr-z knuckles to compare.
Now I am on the hunt for a rotor that will fit.

You can see how it sits on the bracket in this picture.

I have a CRZ knuckle... but never had a chance to compare it to a FIT knuckle.. they look like they are the same however, I'm sure they have slight differences. When I get a chance I will try to compare them to the FIT knuckle.

On a side note. I took the cr-v brakes off my EK9 and the caliper brackets have the same bolt pattern as the fit/cr-z. I bolted everything on and it actually fit better than the cr-z rotor/caliper but still wont work as it also hits. This would most likely work on a cr-z which would be a bigger brake upgrade.

My issue here is I wanted to keep the factory fit suspension geometry in the front by keeping the fit knuckle but if I cannot find a rotor that works I will be forced to switch over to the cr-z knuckle.

Nice updates.. been thinking about your brake situation.. is there any particular reason you are using CRZ brake setup in lieu of an another setup?

Nope, Cr-Z stuff is bigger than OEM fit and I had them already. ohh and 5 lug rotor. Just using what I got. I ended up using a 3m spacer that i milled down to fit behind the rotor. It spaced it out enough that it wont be a problem.

CRZ- Torsion Bar Install

This damn bar put up a lot of fight.

When you do everything by yourself you have to improvise sometimes.

I had to use the front brace to pull the torsion bar into place to get that second bolt in.
