I've had a scosche dash kit on my eclipse avn726e navi. Unfortunately after two different kits due to the cheap plastic it's made of things keep snapping off or squeaking.

Is it possible to use the OEM Honda fit navi dash kit on an aftermarket navi such as the eclipse? I'm assuming the build on an HONDA kit will be much better.

not sure if you can but oem parts are expensive. how about you get new clips and re-install it? chances are it's just the clips that are loose (or you lost a few of them while taking the stock one out)..

 

Before the scoche kits were out people were using the own navi kits. I don't think they're that much $$, maybe $35. Check out cflhonda.com, they usually have awesome prices.

 

As above, before aftermarket kits came out, I used the OEM Honda version. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with trim rings, since that's integral to the OEM Nav headunit. I have a Pioneer AVIC nav unit. The gap is not that bad - I've lived with it a couple of years - but I'm still considering replacing the Honda unit with the Metra unit for a better fit.

 

I've heard of people using the pilot's trim ring to help with this issue. Might be something worth looking into. I've seen a couple aftermarket ones that don't match up that well color-wise like an OEM one would.

 

at this point, i'm decently happy with the metra kit for my double din but it does have issues lining up perfectly with the glove box. i also have a rattle but i think it's my not so neat wiring job behind the unit. i think i'll just wait until the 2012s are out and get the darker grey pieces.

yes, oem navi dash will work with most aftermarket 2din's

okay.. i finished the job.. everything came out ok.
unfortunately the navi sticks out a bit much from the dash kit.

anyone have pictures of their finished product?
when i tried to line it up to slide it back more.. there werent enough screw holes to put it in place. I did see funkybucket's post but he fabricated a custom bracket so im sure he had a chance to line it up his liking.

can you bore the hole a little bit (not the threaded hole) and slide your mounting braket deeper? should be easy to do with a round file.

 

how far does it stick out? you can do what kenchan said bore the holes a little to get it sitting back a bit
or do what i did and put some washers/spacers in between the bracket and the dash, but if you do remember to use some longer screws to hold the bracket to the dash, just so the bracket is on the back of that dash tightly,
mine seems quite flush

the bottom one is the one you want to look at, it has 4 holes for the bracket to mount to



and this pic you want to look at the one on the right, with the metal bracket on, so if you use some metal washers (i think mine were 1/8" thick) whatever size you need to make it sit back a bit so it is flush with the console, and its easy figure out if you measure how much the headunit is sticking out, then thats how thick of a washer you need
also if you do use the washer to space it back a bit, the one screw on the bottom of the metal bracket won't line up any more, so don't need to use that, you will know what i am talking about when you take your stock headunit off
