How do you figure you lost weight going from a 15" to a 17" wheel?

^What he said.

Even if the wheels are lighter (Which would be impressive, they'd have to be forged and pricey) the tyres will be heavier

I know there is a weight lost but not a big 20% (or even a 5%!). I would have to go home and check the numbers again, since I had them installed since I first bought my FIT back in 2009.

Like a said before - I did it for the "looks" and any wight lost is better than none.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet my Advans that that combo is heavier than stock.

hahaha, i love how you ask 1 thing and people are pointing you in a bit of a different direction, suggesting to just lower it and changing tires instead

iam alot like you that the first thing i think about is chassis reinforcement's and struts and shocks.... but iam running into the same problem that i can't find vendors that actually sell those kinds of parts.

The thing is, what is handling? Its the interaction between your car and the road. Even in stock form, you can easily overwhelm the tires.

Once you replace the tires with something grippier, you then need to keep it in contact as much as possible. Better springs to keep all four on the road and then sway bars to deal with corners. Shocks and struts need to be replaced to survive quicker, more reactive springs.

At this point, stiffening the chassis will help, and so forth.

None of those mods will help, if you're sliding all over the place.

1st mod - driving skills, to know how to handle the handling when the car doesn't handle like you want it to and think it should... Too late when the car did what it's supposed to and you didn't... Safe and fun can come together but not always do...

I agree, I'm tired of seeing people in all manner of cars driving like they have no clue.

Agreed, first mod should be adjusting the nut behind the wheel more precisely.

I would also do the sway bars as well for less body rolls and better turning for cheap. Way less labor too I think.

Suspension, brakes and tires

Well, based on past experience and wasted money, and the lessons that go with it, my plan is HAWK HPS pads or HP plus (hard on rotors, but what the heck),a bit wider, low profile and AA traction rated tires, your choice,GOOD SHOCKS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE in high speed handling,,yes,, even 80-90 mph with the stock shocks and tires on the FIT,,,same as 130-140 mph on more powerful cars could get a bit tricky on turns.A rear sway bar is a must ,but will let the stock one there for a while.K&N air filter is a given. NOW WHY DO THESE STORMS KEEP HITTING US? TS MARIA TOMORROW NIGHT,JEEZ!!
