nice write up and much appreciated! i've never heard of that method. stubborn oil filters are always a pain the a$$!
at the least, our filters are easy to access. my s2000 was easy to access as well.... unfortunate, my 09 fa5 si was terrible! i got tired of trying so i just took it to the dealership... it's locked in a tiny spot where there's not much leverage for any tool/hand.
