Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba wax, meguiars gold class, meguiars nxt tech wax 2.0, and Meguiars ultimate liquid wax I've tried them all and I find that they work pretty good. I arranged them in order of least expensive to most expensive somewhere between $8 to $26. I've only suggested Meguiars because thats all I've used but there are other brands out there like Mothers, Eagle One, Black Magic, etc that are easily accessible and pretty inexpensive. Most importantly though than the type of wax you get is the prep work, a good wash and clay bar is essential to getting a good shine and it helps the wax protect better.

+1 for Meguiars. It was recommended by several people in the car biz to me for my wife's black car.

My Fit is lucky if it gets washed once a year. I might splurge on the extra wax cycle next time.

I found this helpful:

Car Wax Review from ConsumerReports.org - VW GTI Forum / VW Rabbit Forum / VW R32 Forum / VW Golf Forum - Golfmkv.com

I tried the Turtle Wax T-6 a year ago this past August. Water was still beading on the exposed surfaces back in the spring, but had pretty much stopped doing so by this past August. So I'd say it lasts about 8 months (I'm in the northeast, and I run the car through the brush car wash weekly in February and March, but almost not at all the rest of the year). I gave it a new coat earlier this month.

Meguiars is my choice

Another big thumbs up on any of Meguiars products. Unless there is any real oxidation or other paint issues, I like just pure carnauba rather than the cleaner-type wax. As mentioned, clay bar following a wash is an essential first prep step before wax. You will be amazed at what it does vs wax only. Killer smooth after the clay bar, be sure to use the detailer lubricant spray, get as a kit pkg w/clay bar. And do this in a non-sand area, and don't drop the clay, but it will adhere to your hand pretty well, so unless you're incredibly clumsy it's no prob. It's a lot of hand work, but a big payoff in looks when you're done, esp. at night and in rain it's awesome.

The first thing I had to do was Google clay bar, interesting. Thank you much for the input. Always appreciated. JIm 0311

Can't go wrong with Meguiars, I've used their products before, and was happy with the results.

Now, I only use Auto Gylm products. Been using them for years and years. The reults sold me, and easily worth the few extra dollars (compared to Meg's).

I know your looking for something easy and maguires is a great product but if your looking for something a little better and does not need alot of upkeep or reapply all the time klasse makes a great product.

i think off the shelf id recommened meguair's NXT techwax. it's easy to apply, doesn't whiten plastics.

i personally use Prima Hydro. it's a 'wax as you dry' polymer sealant that doesnt whiten rubber and plastics. can use over glass too. can be had online from prima (amazon) or detailersdomain.com i think it was like $70 shipped for the gallon. depending on how much i wash, the gallon usually lasts me 2 seasons.

Hydro lasts about as long as NXT (3-4weeks). i use it once a month on my dd's.

Collinite 476s. Only available online, but it's so worth it! Our Fit looks gorgeous a few weeks after applying Duragloss 105, then a coat of Collinite 476s.

It's billed as a "once a year" auto wax, and so far it looks like the day I applied it 2 weeks later.

I Agree with everything above except for the Wally World. If it costs a few bucks more, get it someplace else. Don't support a company that is the epitome of evil.

Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax is easy to use. I personally use Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant.

+1 for Mothers California Gold. I prefer it more than Meguiars personally.
